Commanders Comments
Point of view, recognizing that we pulled
together around a vision, a comprehensive strategy to
transform our VFW Post 812 into a pacesetter for the
rest, to show what a little elbow grease can do.
We’ve been relentlessly implementing it. Having a point of view about
the future, pulling everyone into our comprehensive strategy, helping
In delivering are really important contributions.
We are removing disadvantages daily, we are looking forward to
making improving through out our Post, because it what our Veterans
deserve, they are the reason for our existence.
Watching our COST Structure, Fund Raisers, including wages and
benefits, so we can be competitive with the rest of brothers through
out our great State & Nation. A Commander is really a caretaker of
their Post for that year, one year at a time, till it’s time for another
guardian, to carry their Post into the future.
Everyone now knows that we have created a upward mobility Post with
our energized Post Membership. We take Pride in recognizing our
members who are working to bring honor to themselves and our Post.
Recognizing members who show us ways to improve our Post, make it
more attractive or even safer.
On September 11, we will have our Annual 9 -11 Ceremony honoring our
local Police and Firefighter who have been selected by their
departments and fellow Policeman and Firefighters. This year we are
adding our Military Police and Fort Bliss Firefighters to our Honor
Guest.
On the later part of September we are planning on having an “October
Fest” Fund Raiser, with original German Food, Beer, and Music. I
believe everyone will enjoy themselves, be sure to tell your friend and
mark your calendars. We are lucky to have some German Friends who
have volunteered to help with the Food, Decorations and Music.
To purchase a New Post (pull over) Shirt, order from the Ladies behind
the Bar, with size and color, White or Black.
We have started to
Sell ads in our News
Letter to cover our
Printing cost.
This is just another way
of looking out for our
VFW Post Funds and try
to get the most for our
money.

Back from Iraq, Bar-B-Que Party to show our thanks to them, Even our
District 10 Commander had a Good Time. Our Cooks did such a good Job,
Nothing was left, not even a Hot Dog. Everyone had a Good Time.
Even though the Troop Count was 64, with Family and children, we must
Have had over 200. If we can match that number for our “Mid Summer
Tardeada” this Sunday from 1pm till 5pm, we’ll have a great fund Raiser.

VFW Post 812September News Letter, 2011
ON THE 8TH
OF AUGUST, 2011 WE HAD OUR DISTRICK 10 COMMANDERS
STAFF AUDIT AND WE HAD TO PAY THESE AMOUNTS TO DISTRICT,
STATE, AND NATIONAL.
$748 ONE DOLLAR PER POST MEMBER - DELEGATE FEE
20 SERVICE OFFICE REGISTRATION FEE
440 VOD TICKETS FEE
100 MILITARY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FEE
25 NATIONAL HOME FEE
240 QUARTERMASTERS BOND FEE
240 STATE COMMANDERS PINS
THAT’S $1,813 DOLLARS WE PAYED OUT ON THAT GIVEN DAY, NOT
INCLUDING OUR DAILY BEER, WINE, LIQUOR, FOOD AND MISC ITEMS
THAT ARE NEEDED TO OPERATE OUR DAY TO DAY BUSINESS. MONEY
TO PAY OUR WORKERS, UTILITIES, AND MAKE SURE WE HAVE ENOUGH
MONEY TO COVER THE STATE WHEN THEY JUST GO IN TO THE
ACCOUNT TO GET THEIR 60% OF THE GAMING MACHINES, OR PAY OFF
THE WINNERS ON THE GAMING MACHINES DAILY.
WHEN I HEAR A MEMBER TELL ME THAT WE SHOULD RETURN A
DONATION MADE TO OUR POST BY ANOTHER FELLOW MEMBER, MAKES
ME BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND WHY WE
HAVE FUND RAISERS AND WHERE OUR DOLLARS GO. WHEN A FELLOW
MEMBER, NOT NECESSARY OF OUR POST, COMES TO US FOR
FINANCUAL ASSISTANCE, WE WILL HELP THEM WITH SOME CASH. BUT
NO ONE QUESTIONED THE OVER $6,000 DOLLARS SPEND FOR THE
GOLF TOURNAMENT. ONLY MYSELF AS YOUR COMMANDER CAN ALLOW
THE USE OF THE VFW HALL FOR FREE, AND ONLY I WILL SAY WHAT WE
SPEND MONEY FOR, THE MAX OF $350 - $400 WILL BE SPEND FOR OUR
VOLUNTEERS APPRECATION PARTY AFTERWARD. THE GOLF
TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR WILL BE HELD TO IMPROVE OUR VFW POST
812, LIKE REFRIGERATION FOR THE HALL, THEN CANTEEN.
WE ARE HAVING A “MID-SUMMER TARDEADA” A GET TOGETHER
AFTERNOON PARTY WITH FOOD, MUSIC TO SEE IF WE CAN RAISE SOME
FUNDS FOR OUR REFRIGERATION PROJECT, LATER ON THE 1ST
OF OCT
WE WILL HAVE OUR 1ST
OCT FEST PARTY, AGAIN FOR THE SAME
PROJECT.

VFW POST 812 HAS ALWAYS HAD A GREAT WORKING RELATIONSHIP
WITH OUR CIVILIAN AND MILITARY COMMUNITY, AND THIS IS OUR
SMALL WAY OF THANKING OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO
PROTECT US AND OUR FAMILIES, BY PUTTING THEIR LIFES ON THE
LINE DAY IN AND DAY OUT, 24/7.
A SPECIAL THANKS GOES OUT TO MR TONY G. LARA, SENIOR
INVESTIGATOR-ENGERGY DIVISION, WHO LIASON WITH THE CITY OF
