Alterna.ve  Approaches  for  MD  Offshore  Wind  

1.  Transfer  wind  turbine  components  to  Jack-­‐Up  Rig  in  the  Lower  Bay  to  minimize  wave  height  and  to  reduce  transit  .me  

2.  U.lize  low  mo.on  barge  to  transport  the  wind  turbine  components  from  the  Port  of  Bal.more  to  Offshore  Wind  Field  

Transporta.on  •  100  m  blades  can  be  

transported  by  ship  or  “straight”  rail-­‐bed  •  Manufacturing  blades  

within  port  is  required  •  Generators  weigh  more  

than  400  tons  •  Manufacturing  

generators  close  to  port  is  required
