Introduction

• As a consultant or Business Partner, you may be tasked with setting up an EnterpriseOne environment to use Vertex.

• As a company’s CNC administrator, you may be responsible for configuring and maintaining Vertex connectivity within EnterpriseOne.

Page 6: Vertex Final

Introduction

• The majority of service requests open for Vertex connectivity are often resolved by addressing the installation of the Vertex product and/or correcting the EnterpriseOne configuration.

• This presentation will provide an overview of what is supported, who supports what components, the EnterpriseOne CNC setup for Vertex connectivity and how to effectively work with support should you require assistance.

Vertex What is it?

Page 8: Vertex Final

What Is Vertex?

• Vertex is a third-party tax application.• Vertex for Payroll Tax (VFPT)

• Calculates taxes applied to employee earnings.• Vertex Sales Tax (VST or QSUT)

• Sales Tax is used with Sales Orders and represents the amount of tax applied and collected for something a customer is selling or has sold.

• Use tax is used with Procurement Orders (Purchase Orders) and represents the amount of tax paid on something the customer has bought.

Vertex What do we support?

Page 10: Vertex Final

What Do We Support?

• What we do support:• Only certified versions of the Q Series release of VFPT and

VST can be used with EnterpriseOne applications.• Check third-party MTRs to determine what is currently

certified for use with EnterpriseOne.• For payroll tax, customers must use VFPT. • Customers can use any sales & use tax software, but only

VST is supported by Oracle for use with EnterpriseOne.• EnterpriseOne configuration only:

• We do not provide support for the installation nor maintenance of Vertex applications outside of EnterpriseOne.

• Vertex support or Vertex’s Customer Café.

Page 11: Vertex Final

What Do We Support?

• Note that Vertex releases other than Q Series may work with EnterpriseOne (e.g. Vertex O Series). Vertex support should be contacted to engage their support and consulting services for assistance.

EnterpriseOne MTRs For Vertex

• EnterpriseOne MTRs for Vertex• Available via the MTR Index page, Doc ID 747323.1 under

“Third Party”.• Vertex Q Series Payroll MTR: 705360.1• Vertex Q Series Sales Tax MTR: 705331.1

• Certified versions of Vertex apply to all supported versions of EnterpriseOne applications and tools releases.

• Take note of any required platform fixes (e.g. PTF for AS/400) and any SAR that need to be applied.

• Also note that beginning with SP23_R1 for Xe/ERP8 and 8.95.K1 for 8.9+ applications, the CLI version of Vertex needs to be installed when running things on the AS/400.

Vertex How does it work with EnterpriseOne?

Page 14: Vertex Final

How Does Vertex Work With EnterpriseOne?

• VFPT• Connections are made “on the fly” to Vertex tax collections by

the B0700058.

• VST/QSUT• Connections are made by the B0000182 at startup

(environment initialization) and cached.• Clearing connection values that have been cached in memory

for Call Object kernel processes typically requires a restart .

Page 15: Vertex Final

How Does Vertex Work With EnterpriseOne?

• Best to have one install of Vertex per server.• Check with Vertex support for any requirements they have for

installing various versions on a single machine.

• Local configurations can be setup to test that will not affect the production install and its users.

Vertex What are the steps to configure EnterpriseOne to work with Vertex?

Page 17: Vertex Final

EnterpriseOne Configuration

• Check version of Vertex and make sure test connections and calculations succeed before beginning EnterpriseOne configuration.

• Verify path to Vertex Utilities directory for Windows implementation.

• If not configuring for local testing, make sure Vertex utilities and EnterpriseOne services are going to run on the same server.

• Check for ESUs and apply as necessary.

• Complete fields for Data Source (ODBC, Schema, DB2 library, ISAM path, etc.), Server (Server host name), User ID (qualified DB login user name), and Password (Qualified DB login password)• For ISAM install, only the path to the Vertex collections will be

entered and the other three fields should remain blank.

• Special configurations sometimes necessary for SQL Server and Oracle database configurations.

will still have “B0000182:”.

Vertex Basic Troubleshooting

Page 37: Vertex Final

Basic Troubleshooting

• Verify Vertex Utilities tests are successful.• Verify MTRs have been met and appropriate ESUs

applied.• Call Object Kernel Logs

• Look for errors/failures on B0000182 (VST) or B0700058 (VFPT).

• Get debug (if feasible) to see values passed to these BSFNs.• If running locally data will be in jde.log and jdedebug.log files.

• Configuration instructions are included in the install guide for the applications release, OS and database used.

• Search Metalink 3 for error message or for solutions beginning with “E1:VERTEX”.

Page 38: Vertex Final

Working Effectively With Support

• When opening an SR, be sure to provide the following information:• Version of EnterpriseOne Applications and Tools Release

• 8.11 SP1 8.96.4.0• Version of Vertex

• Payroll Tax Q Series v2.9.4• If using AS/400, specify CLI or ES version of Vertex.

• OS and Database Version• i5/OS V6R1, DB2/i5 V6R1

• Logs from machine running E1 Vertex-related logic (OCM).• Support Assistant – Vertex Configuration Report
