Load and set new rates
1. After running the update, new published rates will need to be loaded for each carrier. You have two choices on timing:
Option A: Load the rates ahead of time. This is possible only if you’ve run the update before the effect date of a given carrier’s rate change. Either click on the link on PostalMate’s main screen as shown below, or choose menu item File > Carrier Activities > Load 2017 rates.
Option B: Wait until the effective date of the change(s). The rate loading process will begin automatically when you start your PostalMate on the effective date of the change for each carrier
2. When prompted, click OK to load the published rates.
After the rates load, the Quick Rate Setting Utility will pop up, as shown on the next page. It’s designed to assist you in quickly setting your wholesale and retail rates.

One or two days before the effective date for each carrier, a notification like this will appear on the main screen. Just click on the link to load rates.

3. Select the carrier(s) for which you want to set new wholesale and retail rates, then click Next.
4. The next screen, shown below, is for setting your wholesale shipping rates. Generally PostalMate will already know what discount plan you’re on with each of the carriers, and will set your rates accordingly. Choose the desired option and click Next.
Wholesale rates are those you pay to the carriers
Which carriers appear here depends on the date, because their rate changes take effect
on different dates.

7. The Add-on Rates screen below is next. It looks and works just like the previous screen. Set your new retail rates and click Finish.
Note: If you have OnTrac as a carrier at your location, instead of Finish you’ll click Next and go to a screen where you can update your retail rates for insurance. Insurance rates aren’t changing for DHL, FedEx or UPS.
All of the rates you’ve set in the wizard will be applied and the Quick Rate-Setting Utility will close. You’re done!
At any time you can run the utility again by choosing Edit > Shipping Rates > Quick Rate-Setting Utility from PostalMate’s main menu.
You can also fine tune your rates at any time, using the regular rate-setting features found in PostalMate Settings.
If you offer LSO in your store, be sure to set a retail rate for the new
Additional Handling surcharge

Signature options for FedEx Express international
For FedEx Express international shipments, “Direct Signature Required” and “Adult Signature Required” options are now offered to 64 countries. You’ll be able to select either one from the Add-Ons screen when processing a shipment to any of the applicable countries. Pricing is the same as for domestic shipments.
Automatic filtering of Ship To records by customer
On the “Ship To” screen you’ve already had the ability to filter the list of records to include only records linked to a selected customer, but it required you to manually invoke the filter for each shipment. Optionally, your can now make that filtering the default. Here’s how:
1. From the main menu in PostalMate, choose Tools > PostalMate Settings, then select Shipping Settings on left.
2. Select the Other tab, and under Default search criteria check the box next to Filter by customer. Click Save, then Close.
Now when you process a shipment with a customer linked to it, the “Show only records for this customer” box on the Ship To screen will be checked automatically. You can always uncheck it if you want to see all Ship To records in your system.
Easier QuickBooks posting on a network
If you use the QuickBooks Interface and have multiple workstations, until now you’ve had to do your daily posting from each workstation individually. A new setting gives you the ability to post your daily transactions for all workstations from the Master workstation. Here’s how:
1. From the main POS Register menu, go to Tools > Options > Register Settings.
2. Select the QuickBooks tab. Make sure your QuickBooks Interface is enabled.
3. Check the box next to Consolidate, then click OK.
