1 Introduction
This user guide describes the features of Broadband Hotspot Management. For other Verizon MDM features, please refer to the Verizon MDM User Guide.

2.2 Broadband Hotspot Management
Broadband Hotspot Management enables customers to provision, configure, monitor and control all of their deployed broadband devices simultaneously. This control can be deployed in a grouped or per device level. User access to these devices can be controlled in a number of ways. Customers can also choose to limit broadband access to the owner or to the group to which the owner belongs. SSID/password pairs can be distributed to the broadband devices so as to maintain “granted” access. Additional device permissions and network configurations can be set and subsequently deployed over the air through the Verizon MDM Portal.
The Broadband Hotspot Management feature is part of the Mobility Services portfolio of Verizon MDM. After logging into Verizon MDM, from the Device Services Dashboard (see figure 3 above), select Mobility Services from the drop-down menu beside the Verizon MDM logo to switch to the Mobility Services Dashboard.
Figure 4 Mobility Services Dashboard
Clicking on “Devices” or “Users” in the Dashboard will toggle the chart to show the total number of devices or users existing within the account.
The Broadband Hotspot tray opens up to show the license management details of the service:
Total Licenses – number of Broadband Hotspot Management licenses purchased
Total Licenses Available – number of licenses not utilized and available for use
Licensed Devices – number of devices using a license
Devices not Licensed – number of compatible devices not using a license
Licenses are assigned to devices when these are activated for management. They are subsequently un-assigned when the management is removed and the devices are archived.
The Edit Activations button enables the activation of a device for management. Clicking on the button opens up the Edit Actions pop-up menu, devices can be added and removed (with filtering available per device make and model).
Note: a device de-activation will result in the device being factory reset.

Events & Actions
An Events & Actions policy allows an administrator to define custom and/or dynamic events to trigger actions. This allows the automation of notifications, group assignments, device commands and more.
- creation of alerts (e.g. device out of compliance)
- automatic group assignments (e.g. based on AD attributes returned to Verizon MDM)
- automatic device commands

Each action is triggered by an event, such as a device reporting usage information, a device not checking-in within a certain time-frame, the user belonging to a new group. Based on a single event, multiple actions can be triggered in succession.

2.5 Additional Information & troubleshooting
Devices are automatically assigned to the All Devices Group. Use the grouping feature of the Verizon
MDM portal to put your devices into groups which match your organizational structure.
If configurations are not being deployed to devices, check that the IMEI and MDN (phone number)
pair on the device are the same as those references in the Verizon MDM portal. If they are not the
same and not updated within 24 hours, please contact Verizon technical support.
Broadband Hotspot Management requires that devices are updated to the latest available firmware.
If devices are connecting via a Verizon Mobile Private Network connection the devices must be able
to access verizonmdm.vzw.com on port 443 (https) to receive their configurations and post reporting
data.
