Important to Know:

• We eliminate prepositional phrases because they will NOT contain the subject, verb, direct object, indirect object, predicate noun, nor predicate adjective.

• Sentences do NOT have to have prepositional phrases. Indirect objects are rare.

• Remember: The subject of ALL imperative sentences (commands) is the “understood you.” Example: Complete the assignment. (You!)

• Cross out prepositional phrases.

• Underline subject once.

• Underline verb twice

• Identify direct object with DO

• Indentify indirect object with IO

• Predicate Nouns (PN) Predicate Adjectives (PA)
