Australian supplier Arcade Tables has helped fuel the pinnie-parlour revival with Asobu, a modern take on the old classic with clean lines, cool design, quality workmanship and rugged construction. The Asobu, meaning ‘play’ in Japanese, encourages patrons to linger longer and functions a as dining, cocktail or coffee table — and it “doesn’t matter if you spill beer on it, or stab it with a pool cue,” says Arcade Tables director James McLennan. The Asobu is delivered with nine games of your choice and another 30 are available including all the classics: Space Invaders, PacMan, Galaga, Donkey Kong and Frogger. “Best of all, there’s never any need to update the games or software,” McLennan adds. “After all, they’ve all been out of date for years!” Designed and made in Australia, the Asobu comes with a sleek black and steel finish, 21-inch RGB screen, thumping speaker with volume control, tough stainless steel control panels and fittings, and easily-cleaned, tempered smoky glass. It can be purchased for $2980, or rented for $50 per week with servicing included.
