Mae Phil Brown yn byw ac yn gweithio yn Ynys Mon, lle cafodd ei fagu. Mae ei gefndir yn y maes dylunio graffig. Yn 2007 ailhyfforddodd Phil fel tylinwr corff chwaraeon.

Yn ystod haf 2010, cynhyrchodd Phil gyfres o baentiadau haniaethol a gafodd eu hysbrydoli gan daith i San Diego rai blynyddoedd yn ol. Roedd Phil wedi teithio yn helaeth yn y gorffennol ac roedd syniadau ac atgofion y daith yn addas i’w harchwilio a’u mynegi mewn ffordd fwy rhydd a digymell o weithio. Mae synergedd rhwng therapi symudiad, sy’n gofyn am agwedd greadigol a byrfyfyr, a’r broses o roi marciau paent ar y cynfas.

Phil Brown lives and works in Anglesey, where he was brought up. He has worked as a professional illustrator and graphic designer. In 2007 Phil retrained as a remedial and sports masseur.

Over the summer of 2010, Phil produced a series of abstract paintings inspired by a trip to San Diego years before. These paintings are a part of an on-going body of abstract work that Phil finds refreshing and exciting to explore. There is a synergy between his massage and movement therapy, which requires a creative and improvisational approach, and the application of painted marks to the surfaces of his canvasses.

Mae’r Pasg yn gyfnod dathlu mewn nifer o ddiwylliannau hemisffer y gogledd, ac yn amser twf newydd ac aileni. Dewch i ymuno â Rowenna Williams o Wild Art Wales yn Venue Cymru i ddathlu’r wyl hon trwy greu basgedi’r Pasg, coronblethau a choronau. Byddwch yn defnyddio deunyddiau naturiol a deunyddiau wedi’u hailgylchu yn ogystal â deunyddiau crefft i greu eich campweithiau Pasg unigryw chi eich hun.

Easter is a time of celebration in many cultures in the northern hemisphere, a time of renewed growth and rebirth. Come join Rowenna Williams of Wild Art Wales at Venue Cymru to celebrate this festival by creating Easter baskets, head garlands and crowns. You will be using natural and recycled materials as well as craft materials to make your very own unique Easter creations.

Derek Jacobi takes on one of Shakespeare’s greatest roles in a major new Donmar Warehouse production from director Michael Grandage and the creative team behind six-time Tony

Award-winning Red.

“Who is it that can tell me who I am?”An ageing monarch. A kingdom divided. A child’s love rejected. As Lear’s world descends into

chaos, all that he once believed is brought into question.

One of the greatest works in western literature, King Lear explores the very nature of human existence: love and duty, power and loss, good and evil.

From the land of legends and warrior Shaolin monks comes the incredible new Chinese State Circus production – the

live acrobatic spectacular - Mulan.

A breathtaking fusion of precision acrobatics, Shaolin martial arts, dazzling circus skills, colourful characters from Peking Opera, physical theatre and drama choreographed to

an original music score, MULAN is based on the legend of one of China’s greatest heroines. Although the tales of how a peasant girl led an army to save her nation from invasion have

spread over the world in poems, songs, books, and films, this is their first incarnation in the all-action world of international circus.

Entertainment for all the family- from the world’s leading Chinese acrobats.

By William Douglas Home

Starring Jane Asher, Clive Francis and Belinda Lang

Parental plans go awry, reputations are shredded and the generation gap seems insurmountable in William Douglas Home’s delightful romantic comedy.

Society couple, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent, are launching their daughter Jane into society and have their eye on the perfect husband. Jane, however, has other ideas. The round of balls and parties bores her stiff and the last thing she wants is some stuffy young toff with perfect manners. In fact, the chap she

really wants appears to be a perfect cad…

Horrified parents, a conniving cousin and hot society gossip make this a debutante season to remember.

Bursting with witty one liners and sparkling dialogue in the tradition of Noel Coward, this affectionate caricature of 1950s British society brings the glamour and charm of the debutante scene gloriously to life.

‘You shouldn’t put your daughter in the

marriage stakes, however big the

prizes are’

We’ll Meet Again, the record breaking touring show presented by DUGGIE CHAPMAN MBE, clocks up an amazing 10th year on the road in 2010. Britain’s best matinee show returns with a new programme. Featuring comedians Steve Barclay and Max Miller, vocalists Tony Leyton and Lucia Matisse, musical entertainer Andy Eastwood and recalling those wonderful radio stars Tessie O’Shea. Hosted by entertainer Mervyn Francis and accompanied by the fabulous Martyn St James Band, We’ll Meet Again recollects the days when the spirit of Britain was at its highest, and an era to be proud of. It’s great fun and damp-eyed nostalgia that leaves everyone with a warm and sentimental glow.

When Theatr Colwyn reopens, the new box office number will be: 01492 577888. The website address is: www.theatrcolwyn.co.uk

The theatre and cinema, which is 125 years old, has been awarded £500,000 from the North Wales Regeneration Area Programme (part of the Bay Life + Programme) and £238,000 from Conwy County Borough Council, owner and operator, to pay for the project.

Money was also raised in a separate campaign launched by Monty Python Terry Jones, patron of Theatr Colwyn. Terry, who was born in Colwyn Bay, made a special appearance in front of a sell-out audience at the theatre in April to launch the campaign.

The new facilities will include a larger foyer and bar area, community room, offices, ramp access to the building, lift to all floors.

Plans also include the enhancement of the front of the Victorian venue and development of the basement area to create toilet facilities, staff room and link door connecting backstage to front of house.

Theatr Colwyn is the oldest cinema in the UK still operating and the oldest theatre in Wales still operating.

Phil Batty, manager, said: “This redevelopment will regenerate Theatr Colwyn and help to ensure it is around for the next 125 years. As the building work progresses, we are busily planning the reopening for the Spring. We are especially happy that we will have a new community room, which will give organisations from the area a space to hold meetings / conferences in the centre of Colwyn Bay.“There will also be an increased bar area space, where we are looking into the possibility of putting on small events and gigs.”

The management of Theatr Colwyn is very grateful to the Bay of Colwyn Town Council for their continued financial support of the venue and the Friends of Theatr Colwyn for their work in promoting and supporting it.

Theatr Colwyn in Colwyn Bay is undergoing an exciting major front of house redevelopment at the moment, which will greatly improve the facilities of this much loved venue.

Venue Cymru welcomes all patrons and offers a range of facilities to ensure everyone has an enjoyable and comfortable visit. Audio described, captioned and BSL interpreting are available on selected performances during weekly or long running shows. Here is a brief explanation of how they work at the theatre.

Captioning - converts the spoken word into visible text for deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people.

Sign Language Interpretation - enables people with sign language, whether as a first or second language, to enjoy live performance in the language most appropriate to them.

Sound enhancement - an Infra Red Loop System amplifies the sound via a headset or neck loop in conjunction with a hearing aid; this is particularly helpful for people with mild hearing loss.

Audio Description - a live verbal commentary, delivered between the dialogue, providing information on the visual elements of a production as it unfolds.

* We do advise that you reserve a headset when booking tickets.

We hope these assisted performances remove some of the barriers to the arts, which most people take for grant.
