Students forget because it does not look like a classroom.
Remind them of what your expectations are while they are in your classroom.
Arrange chairs so no ones back is toward you if possible.
The Library is a Classroom
No talking when it is your turn to talk.
Have established procedures for each activity such as check-out, book return, computer
use.
Have a reference question on the table when the students arrive, they work on answering
the question in their journals while you attend to business.
The Library is a Classroom
Have an established set of consequences.
Have the student write a note home and return it signed before
further check-outs.Have the student call their
parent(s).
Disruptive Behavior
Share that a library book is kept in their book bag/backpack when it is
not being read.
Have magazines on the tables for students to read/look at after check
out or if they can not check new books out. Save old issues to use on
tables.
