VDA 6.3

VDA 6.3 is a process based audit standard which evaluates,

analyses and enhances various controls in manufacturing

processes. This standard is developed by the German

Automotive Industry. The VDA 6.3 process audit is an

assessment method to conduct process checks within a quality

management system and assess capability and performance.

The standard can be used by any organisation, for either

internal process audits or for evaluating potential or existing

suppliers. The German Automotive Original Equipment

Manufacturers (OEM) has recognised it to be an excellent

process monitoring tool for them and their suppliers. Revised in

2010, the standard was comprehensively restructured to reflect

the changes to the ISO 9001:2008 standard and essential

customer specific requirement.
