DISSEMINATION ACTIVITIES

Public Awareness of Science has been a central interest of our group since its beginnings The activities developed

include talks to non-specialized audiences internet platforms science and art videos and science divulgation videos

science museum exhibitions electronic and hardcopy books and other platforms including art exhibitions (being the more

recent AC gallery Madrid and La casa del Libro San Francisco) on NP microscopy images and televisionradio

interviews The group has also won the 2011 FOTCIENCIA edition

The target puacuteblic has been from general science and young investigators to the elder or children as young as 7 years old

(introduction to nanotechnology and demonstrative experiments) For that we have obtained funds from private

organizations and local administrations Recently our ebook of 2013 entitled Nanoparticles Before Nanotechnology

with more than 12000 downloads and still promoted We also published in 2013 a large-format photography book about

the ldquoNanocosmosrdquo in Colombia Another example is Goldlight a joined collaboration between ING group and old town

jewellers of Barcelona which led to the creation of ldquoquantum jewelleryrdquo based on colloidal solutions of hollow Au NPs It

was recently featured in The Guardian after appearing in the Spanish Jewels Journal (25000 copies) and El Periodico

Similarly our Science paper was featured on the BBC among many others highlighting the possibilities of NPs in

medicine Our spin-off Nanotargeting was featured in La Vanguardia and our work in Ara and our exhibition at

CosmoCaixa (TEcnoRevolucioacuten I and II Barcelona and Madrid) in El Mundo among other interviews for local and

international TVs ndashTV Vallegraves TV25- and radio as COM Radio and PUNT Radio We appeared also twice in Spanish

national TV Informe Semanal

VP has an active role in science promotion and dissemination Apart from NanoWiki activities in this area VP has been

Scientific advisor for Nanonica a Switzerland-based company devoted to transfer knowledge from universities to

industry In 2012 Nanonica and ICN joined efforts in creating NanoTargeting a startup company focused on drug

delivery applications of nanotechnology in which Viacutector Puntes has a leading scientific role

Scientific Director of the Centre for BioNanoSafety and Sustainability (CNBSS) from 2009 to 2012 The CNBSS

was an initiative of Catalan Institute of Nanotechnology (ICN) and the LEITAT Technological Centre in response to

the emerging need to rationalise and assess the risks of new nanotechnologies and to promote it safe and sustainable

uses in industry and for the society in general

Moreover VP pioneered the nanotechnology and knowledge transfer in the Catalonia area already in 2007 by funding

what today constitutes ENDOR Nanotechnologies

Victor Puntes is also co-founder of Applied Nanoparticles a spin off company sponsored by Repsol dedicated to

bring nanotechnology solutions to Energy and the Environment [wwwappliednanoparticleseu]

Also VP has been providing designed NPs to the WRAIR and the Uniteacute Interactions Hocircte-Pathogenes for the
