Laurel International
Outreach Needs YOU!
The International Ministry’s Conversational English Program needs extra volun-teers on Wednesday evenings (6:45pm) during the summer. We depend upon help from primarily our college students (Johnson University & UT) during the school year, but they have now left town for the summer. There are already sev-eral internationals currently waiting for a speaking partner, due to their previous partner being a college student who has left for summer break. More new inter-nationals will arrive each week, each one needing someone to talk to.
There are several ways that you can help:
1. You can be a one-on-one speaking partner with the conversational English program. This class meets in the gym. The only experience or qualifications that you need is an interest in meeting other people, be a native English speaker, and be a servant of Christ.
2. You can assist in the ESL class for adults or the ESL class for children. These classes teach basic English and life skills in the U.S. This class meets in the UT or “Orange” classroom across from the gym. Robin Nelson will be providing a 3-week training session for those interested in assisting in these classes on May 8th, 15th, and 22nd.
If you have any questions, please contact Desiree Munn: [email protected] The Laurel International Outreach classes meet Wednesday nights from 6:45pm – 7:45pm.
Harding Academy Chorus Visit May 18 & 19 Fifty-three members of the Harding Academy Chorus from Searcy, Arkansas, will be with us May 18 & 19. They arrive Saturday evening, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. and will sing for us in the auditorium during Bible class Sunday, May 19.
Housing is still needed for them for 15 of them Saturday night, May 18. If you can house some of these students, please sign up this Sunday in your Bible class or on the clipboard in the foyer, or you can email Mike Buckley at [email protected] and let us know how many people you can keep and whether you prefer to house males or females. Thanks so much!
