VB-Airsuspension found a way to combine those re-quirements without compromise. On theway to the scene the ambulance car offers a safe ride, much above the performance conventional suspension systems can reach. On the way to hospital an extremely (comfortable) and smooth ride is possible without safety compromise. If a traffi c situation forces the driver to critical driving manoeuvres, the VB global chassiscontrol switches to safe riding within milliseconds.
How can that be realized? The electronic dampers can switch from a very soft state to a very hard statewithin milliseconds. A small ECU calculates the ideal damping forces to reach ultimate comfort, stability and safety for each damper, 1000 times a second.
Compared to a conventional suspension system, the pri-mary safety as well as comfort issues of the ambulance are increased by far, pitch, roll and heave motions can be reduced up to 40%!
A certifi cate of non-objection for the System will be applied for at the Daimler AG, we are already in advanced talks with the Mercedes-Benz Vans Bodybuilder centre.
