Detailed Description of Variance: Attachments Yes No Photos? Yes No
Variance 11 (VAR-011) includes up to 6 office trailers, generators to power the trailers, and fuel storage areas as detailed below.
Two 24’x60’ office trailers, one 12’x56’ office trailer, powered by one generator within the 2-acre laydown yard (Yard 9) off McCain Valley Road.
Two 24’x60’ office trailers, one 48’x60’ office trailer (or smaller), powered by one generator within the 2-acre laydown yard (Yard 11) off H string line.
No decking will be included with the trailers.
Power will be provided by one 150kw generator per yard. The full generator specifications are attached (Attachment B) and with the noise, emissions, and secondary containment details included below.
Cummins 150 kw Generator
Noise: This generator is rated at 75 d(B)a @ 7m
Emissions: US EPA Tier III compliant
Secondary containment: The rental package enclosure includes a complete engine fluid containment reservoir. The generator will also be located within a secondary containment area (earth bermed area lined with impermeable surface that is appropriately sized to contain the fluids and fuel)
Fuel Storage will occur at both yards.
Secondary containment: Each fuel tank will be double walled as specified in Attachment C, and they will also be located within a secondary containment area (earth bermed area lined with impermeable surface that is appropriately sized to contain the fluids and fuel)
The office trailers will be utilized within project hours and consistent with project permit and plan conditions, including but not limited to:
All generators will have secondary containment that is appropriately sized to contain the engine fluid and fuel as required in the Hazardous Materials Management Plan and Fire Prevention Protection Plan.
All fuel and hazardous materials will be stored per the Hazardous Materials Management Plan and Fire Prevention Protection Plan.
Office trailer lighting will be consistent with the Lighting Mitigation Plan.
Office personnel will park in these yards; all other parking will continue to utilize the main parking area. The generators approved to be used with the storage trailers in VAR-005, will no longer be needed, as the larger generators included in this variance will provide enough power for the Conex trailers.
VAR-011 is within
Variance Justification:
County processes have resulted in a delay getting the office trailers approved to be placed in the 80-acre laydown yard. Relocation of the office trailers to Yard 9 and Yard 11 and use of the generators to power the office trailers will allow the contractors to have facilities in close proximity to the work. This will allow fast field response time from superintendents who split their time between the field and the office. It will also improve site safety by improving the Site Management Team’s ability to monitor personnel on-site; and will reduce congestion in the 80 laydown yard, making all activities in the laydown yard safer.
