On behalf of the Triton Showers National Championship Committee we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 2017 Triton Showers National Rally Championship and we hope you and your team have a successful and safe year.

Firstly, I would like to thank our outgoing Chairman Richard Talbot for his hard work & dedication over the last ten years and for making this championship one of the most successful in Ireland.

We wish to thank Kevin Barrett and the Triton Team for their support for Irelands Leading Tarmac Rally Series. We are also delighted to welcome Vado as a new sponsor of our TV Coverage.

The format of the 2017 Championship will consist of 8 one day events with competitors counting their best 6 events. This year will see a change to the power stage, with the winner of it receiving 1point for being the fastest. As always we will be running the exciting Mark 2 National Championship trophy. The format will remain the same for 2017 with competitors counting their best 5 scores out of the 8 events. All scores are on an overall basis, while still being able to compete in their various classes.

Again the National Historic Category will take place. This year will see a change to the Historic championship with them being seeded in the main field competing on all stages of each event. Historic competitors will count their best 4 scores from the 8 events.

Triton Showers believe in supporting our Junior Competitors and we would like to thank Triton along with Brendan Kelly of Kelly’s Toyota for their continued support for the Junior Championship Awards. This year will see a change to the Junior Championship with competitors counting their best 5 scores from the 8 events.

Thanks to the Motorsport Safety Team (Aiden Harper) & Rally.ie (Brian Duggan) for their continued support of the Group N and 2 Wheel Drive Awards.

We would like to thank and acknowledge the following: Triton Showers and Kevin Barrett, Vado, Creative Signs & Labels, Motorsport Ireland and the Motorsport Commission under President Martin Mc Kenna. The Rallies committee under Chairman Richard Talbot, Our 8 Clubs, On the limit sports team (Mick Bracken) for all their help in putting a package together to ensure we have TV coverage for all 8 events of the 2017 championship to be broadcast in Ireland on TG4. Setanta Sports, Irish TV and across Europe on Motors TV, BT Sports and Sky Sports.

Most importantly, we thank you the competitor for choosing the Triton Showers National Rally Championship as your preferred choice for 2017 and we look forward to working with all of you during the year.

Finally keep Saturday Night the 18th of November free for what is now regarded as the Motorsport Awards Presentation of the year, so make it a date.
