Best Practices• There’s plenty of documentation and guides—but you still need to understand the
concepts and know what you are doing• Allocate enough time to finalize Office 365 licensing—paperwork takes its time • You may require more Office 365 licenses than you think—more mailboxes than
active users• A user mailbox can be converted to a shared mailbox if necessary (5 GB limit) • Be careful with DNS configuration—invalid MX record can stop your mail• Make sure AD UPN name is properly populated as per prerequisites • Be aware of the Office 365 object limit—and deleted objects count, too • Mail retention policy is not adjustable in certain plans

Best Practices cont’d…• Deploy Windows CA server to help managing internal certificates• Pay attention to prerequisites—they are not there just to fill in the space • Don’t synchronize/activate all your AD user accounts
—unless you really need to• Consider how to manage GALs in the hybrid configuration • User object synchronization can take time, there is a staging environment
before production• You likely need a 3rd party tool for data migration unless already on Exchange
2010 SP3 or newer• SharePoint Online customization can take a LOT of planning, skill, and time
—but the payback can be HUGE• SharePoint Online has development limitations compared to on-premise
—be aware• Deploy desktop tools systematically using a tool
