Vantaa 201420th National Session of EYP Finland
Information Sheet for Officials
The 20th National Session of EYP Finland will be organised in Vantaa on 10–13 Janu-
ary 2014. Vantaa 2014 will gather some 180 participants from over 15 European coun-
tries to discuss and debate some of the most pressing issues of our time. The session
is under the patronage of Mr Olli Rehn, Vice President of the European Commission,
and Mrs Tuula Teeri, President of Aalto University.
The session will host delegations from both Finland and abroad and have an interna-
tional team of officials. The Finnish delegations to the session will be selected at the
four Regional Sessions of EYP Finland in October–November 2013. At the National
Session, delegations will be selected to represent Finland at the International Ses-
sions of the EYP in Riga, Latvia, and Kiev, Ukraine, in 2014.
We are now opening the Call for Officials for the National Session. We are looking for
vice presidents, editors, chairpersons and journalists. The session will be presided by
James Benge (UK) and head-organised by Riikka Nieminen and Riikka Koskinen.

Who?
There will be delegations from
both Finland and abroad and an
international team of officials.
How much does it cost?
The participation fee for Finnish
officials is 30 EUR. There will be
no participation fee for foreign
officials.
Participants need to cover their
travel expenses by themselves.

at the Alumni Portal. Please
submit it to applications@eypfin-
land.org by either 10 November
or 17 November (see instruc-
tions on the opposite page).
How to apply?
The Call for Officials for Vantaa 2014 is now open. We are looking for vice presidents,
editors, chairpersons and journalists. You can find the application form on the Alumni
Platform at http://alumni.eypej.org/archives/38453. Please submit your application
to [email protected]. There are two different deadlines: the deadline for
vice president, chairperson and editor applications is 10 November, the deadline for
journalist applications 17 November. The selected editor or editors will be included in
the journalists selection panel. Each applicant will be informed of the outcome of the
selection within a week of the respective deadline.
EYP Finland places emphasis on the transparency and fairness of the selection pro-
cedure. Reasonable balance of nationalities and levels of experience will be pursued,
but the guiding principle will be that of meritocracy. Thus, we encourage all applicants
to pay attention to their applications. The selection panel will also provide all rejected
applicants with feedback on their applications.
The participation fee for Finnish officials is 30 EUR. There is no participation fee for
foreign officials. To avoid cancellations, we kindly ask all applicants to check their
travel options and exam schedules before applying.
How to get there?
The Helsinki–Vantaa International Airport has direct connections to tens of locations
all around Europe, and Vantaa is thus easily reached from all corners of Europe. Hel-
sinki can also be reached by ferry from Tallinn and Stockholm.
All officials are expected to arrive in Vantaa by noon on Thursday 9 January, and the
session will end by 18:00 on Monday 13 January. Accommodation for possible extra
nights will most likely be provided.
How to take part?Programme
The session includes a day of
officials’ training, a day of team-
building, two days of committee
work and a one-day General
Assembly.
The working language of the
session is English.
