Large scale traditional water treatment solutions in highly populated areas are slow to implement and has a high CAPEX

Onshore plants have a long timeframe from decision to operationalization (8-10 years) (Floating solution 1-4 years)

Onshore plants can’t keep pace with urbanisation

Large cities run short of land areas for this kind of process plants or “out of sight”

Every day, 9 mill m3 of untreated wastewater is discharged into the Mediterranean ocean

Tourism avoid areas where wastewater is discharged untreated into the sea

Water scarcity reduces economic development

PRESENT ECONOMIC CHALLENGES

Access to safe drinking-water is essential to human health and survival.

2,2 mill people die each year from diarrheal disease. (mostly children)

80% of all wastewater in development countries are discharged untreated into the environment.

Untreated wastewater leads to eutrophication of the sea.

Methane from sewage are a considerable contributor to green house gases. Methane ≥ 20 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than CO₂

Untapped energy source in the sewage fermenting process

The Aqua Recovery by EnviroNor is a unique solution compare to traditional wastewater or desalination plant. Our solution is based on re-use of an ocean going vessel (tanker) where we convert the vessel to a Floating Wastewater Treatment Unit or to a Floating Desalination Unit.

The Aqua Recovery by EnviroNor offers considerable advantages in terms of; lower investment, reduced time from decision to operationalization, environmental benefits and flexibility in terms of locations.

The Aqua Recovery by EnviroNor can be anchored as a fixed installation or can be moved and service a multiple of location.

In my opinion the Environor is an innovative concept with a great potential for commercial success. The concept may be used in a traditional, centralized end‐of‐pipe wastewater system, both for the case where the treated water is discharged to the sea and the case where the treated water is reclaimed, returned to the shore and reused for various, secondary quality uses (irrigation, street washing, toilet flushing etc.). The concept may also be used for desalination of ocean‐water in cities of water scarcity. The concept may, most favourably be used in the new, innovative semi‐centralized water and wastewater management systems that are emerging in cities around the world, that focuses on water reclamation and reuse, water conservation, energy conservation and local storm water handling and use.

All in all, therefore, the Environor concept, if sensibly managed, should have a great potential.

Prof. Emeritus Dr. Ing. Hallvard Ødegaard

Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)

Solving the problem of water scarcity has to begin by using water more efficiently, but that alone will not fill the gap. Large-scale reuse of water is essential to a sustainable future for planet Earth.

Water security is one of the great challenges of the 21st century. It goes to the heart of biodiversity conservation, food and energy supply, climate change adaptation, poverty reduction and conflict mitigation. Large-scale reuse of water is essential to a sustainable future. A solution that also reuses phased out ships is spot on environmentally. This project combines innovation, cost efficiency, environment and flexibility in an elegant way

Nina Jensen, CEO /Generalsekretær WWF

Availability of, and access to clean water is a crucial humanitarian need. Depletion and destruction of our natural resources puts the livelihoods and resilience of especially vulnerable populations at risk. This project addresses different issues. It increases the availability of clean water, reduces environmental pollution and addresses issues related to the global trends of urbanization, climate change and the depletion of our natural resources.

Sven Mollekleiv, President Norwegian Red Cross

We have since long looked for an opportunity to create something in the environmental space around water. We have been invited by EnviroNor to join up on Floating Wastewater Treatment Plants. With this project we want to bring more knowledge to the market on how this can be done in practice.
