Though very different in format and curriculum, all three of these options qualify as full-time, 60-plus credit-hour programs. No compromises. No shortcuts. Equal in rigor. Equal in individualized attention and support. Equal in their ability to open doors around the world.

Are you ready to make yourself a more valuable player within your current organization? Want a “seat at the table” with others whose skills and functional knowledge complement yours? Would you benefit from a more global perspective and network? Maybe you are looking to change careers entirely or develop a specific functional expertise that will make you more valuable to employers?

Whatever your career goals or aspirations, a Vanderbilt MBA can get you there.

Whichever program you choose, Vanderbilt offers some clear advantages.

The Vanderbilt Master of Business Administration

A world-class credential. At Vanderbilt, you’re not just adding letters after your name. You’re benefiting from a door-opening credential that is synonymous with excellence not just in the United States but around the globe.

Highly renowned, accessible faculty. Here, great professors are also great mentors, advisors and friends. And those relationships don’t end once your program does. The door is always open.

A powerful network. You’ll be able to build a network of colleagues from diverse backgrounds; our students typically say they learn as much from their peers as from their professors.

Incomparable leadership program. No matter which program you choose, Vanderbilt’s distinctive Leadership Development Program gives you access to the valuable diagnostic tools and executive coaching support used by Fortune 500 companies.

Robust ROI. With our Executive MBA programs, you can put new knowledge to work the day after you learn it, creating immediate dividends for you and your employer. (It is not uncommon for our Executive MBA students to earn promotions and raises while still in the program.) With the weekday option, your ROI will come at the end of the program, as you graduate into a new or altered career path that offers short- and long-term increases in earning power.

which program is right For you?Three programs. Three formats. All rigorous 60-plus credit-hour programs offering the same diploma and Vanderbilt graduation ceremony. What’s different? You. What you’ve already achieved. And, what you hope to achieve in the future.

Both the Executive MBA and Americas MBA for Executives are programs designed specifically for mid-career managers and senior executives with at least five years of work experience who want to accelerate—not interrupt—their career momentum and who have the discipline to balance work and a full-time academic workload.

Vanderbilt Executive MBALaunched in 1978, the Vanderbilt Executive MBA is a highly-ranked program proven to help accomplished managers and executives develop the business, strategic vision and leadership skills essential to achieving full executive potential. With classes every other weekend and three residencies over a 21-month period, Executive MBA students learn to think and operate with a “C-suite” perspective.

Vanderbilt Americas MBA for ExecutivesIntroduced in 2011, the 21-month Vanderbilt Americas MBA is an innovative program offered in partnership with leading business schools in Brazil, Canada and Mexico, and is designed to equip managers and executives with specialized knowledge and insights to handle global responsibilities. The program shares a first-year experience with the traditional Executive MBA students but, in the second year, offers a deep dive into the unique cultures and business issues and practices of these four economies with intensive 10-day, in-country immersions.

Vanderbilt MBA (Weekday Program)The 21-month MBA (Weekday Program) is designed for early career professionals who want to redirect or switch career paths and are able to take a two-year break from full-time employment to focus all of their attention on the student experience. This program features a core foundation of general management courses and offers several choices of specializations and concentrations, as well as summer internships to help students work toward their desired career path.

program description

A lockstep program that features a solid foundation of general management fundamentals with the additional coursework and coaching needed to develop the competencies required for leadership and senior management positions—advanced financial frameworks, strategic vision and skills and global perspective. Students work and study in cross-functional C-Teams that emulate the composition and dynamics of leadership teams in most organizations.

A lockstep program that shares first-year curriculum and C-Team structure with the traditional Executive MBA but then diverges in Year Two for intensive immersions into the business issues, practices and cultures of the four largest economies in the Western Hemisphere—Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States. This second year is a joint effort by top business schools in each of these countries, bringing students and faculty from each school together to form an international cohort.

designed For

Mid- and senior-level professionals who are currently employed and are in (or aspire to) positions of leadership within an organization. Those who wish to accelerate—rather than disrupt—their career momentum.

Those whose current careers will benefit from a deep dive into corporate strategy and who want to perfect the skills of working in, and leading, cross-functional teams.

Those who have or seek cross-border responsibilities or plan to work toward an expat assignment within a multinational corporation.

FormatYear Two: A second week-in-residence takes place at the beginning of fall semester. Classes continue to meet every other Saturday, with a break between fall and spring semesters. A Capstone Strategy Project spans the entire second year, and the experience culminates in a one-week international residency prior to graduation.

Year Two: Students from Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the U.S. form a traveling classroom and meet once per quarter for 10-day academic, business and cultural immersions in each of the four countries. In-country immersions are delivered by faculty at each of the four “Americas Alliance” schools. Cross-border teams complete a Capstone Strategy Project that spans the entire year.

A more flexible, full-time student experience that builds on a required core curriculum of management fundamentals and allows students to choose from a variety of concentrations and electives that lead to a career specialization such as finance (corporate finance or investement management), marketing (brand management), human and organizational performance, operations, consulting/strategy or health care.

Mid- and senior-level professionals who are currently employed and are in (or aspire to) positions of leadership within an organization. Those who wish to accelerate—rather than disrupt—their career momentum.

Those who have or seek cross-border responsibilities or plan to work toward an expat assignment within a multinational corporation.

Early career professionals who wish to redirect or change career paths by gaining knowledge, skills and experiences in a specific functional area or industry, and who require or can benefit from the coaching, programming and MBA-employer connections of a dedicated Career Management Center.

Classes start in August and meet Monday through Thursday with evenings, Fridays and weekends used for group study, career search and other events.

Both academic years are broken into four mods, each seven weeks in length. There are short breaks between mods that are often used for intensive immersion experiences and career treks, as well as breaks for major holidays. Students may start taking electives as early as Mod 2 during the first year. Summer provides opportunities for eight- to 10-week internships.

Students participate in LDP outside of their for-credit coursework and have access to diagnostic tools and executive coaching services generally reserved for current and emerging leaders in Fortune 500 companies.
