    WHY TO WORK WITH THIS PLOT??? IS THIS INVESTIGATION LEEDS TO A NEW TRANSPORTATION HUB?? HOW DO WE ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF UNSUCCESSFUL TRANSPORTATION LINK???

    A] CENTRAL RAILWAYSTATION IS PUBLICCALLY RECOGNISABLE TRANSPORTATION ICON - FACE WHICH SERVES AS CONNECTION LINK WITH LARGEST EUROPEAN CITIES

    B] THIS PUBLIC SPACE SCREAMS FOR IMPROVEMENTS. PEOPLE CAN NOT WAIT TO STAY AND USE SQUARES, GREENARIES AND PLAZAS AS FREE TIME OPPORTUNITIES

    C] HISTORICALLY TRAIN AS VEHICLE WAS REPRESENTATION OF HIGH SOCIAL STATUS. GOING TROUGH TIME IT HAS LOST ITS INFLUENCE. IT IS DEMANDED TO REUNITE THIS UNION

    D] FOLLOWING CHANGES HAS TO COME AS A LEADING FLAG FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION THAT WILL BE GREATFULLY LINKED WITH THIS HUB

    E] AT THE MOMENT RAILROAD INFRASTRUCTURE IS MADE IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT CREATES BARRIER THAT DIVIDES CITY AT LEAST IN TWO SEPERATED PARTS THAT INTENTIONALLY URGES TO REUNITE

    F] TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WE DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE GOOD ARCHITECTURE, NOR GREAT CITY PLANNING PROJECT. WE HAVE TO MAKE AN IDEAL, ICONIC, INDEPENDENT, ECONOMICAL MODEL - A BUSINESS PLAN.

    Barrier between the city and the railway stationThe railway station and the nearby bus station play an important role in the city. Thousands use these traf c links every day to get to the city. The station is separated from the Old Town by major roads leading traf c from the eastern suburbs, across the river, to the western areas of Riga. The area around the station and the adjoining streets is dominated by traf c and the environment is stressful because of the noise and the fumes.

    The city centre and the station area are linked by a pedestrian tunnel leading people under ground. This has been done mainly to avoid accidents. One of the major problems with the linkage between the station and the city is exactly the tunnels. In leading people underground the direct connection between the city and the station is lost.

    Barriers between the city and the central marketThe central market is, as mentioned previously, a great attraction in Riga. However, the railway embankment and 13. janvara iela create major barriers between the city and the market. There are only three access points from the city centre to the market. All are dominated by much traf c and insuf cient space for pedestrians.An important part in keeping the central market active is to ensure that it is well connected to other parts of the city.
