Valparaiso University is a leader in comprehensive, personalized education — and a leader in affordability. A U.S. News Best Value!

At Valparaiso University, we pride ourselves on offering an education of the highest quality that provides exceptional value. Valpo graduates achieve an initial job and graduate school placement rate of more than 90 percent every year. Our alumni enjoy diverse and rewarding careers, thriving in prestigious leadership positions at institutions such as NASA and Teach for America; performing missionary work around the world; and achieving success in engineering, business, nursing, and the humanities.

Small class sizes, more readily available courses, and instruction by professors — not teaching assistants — provide Valparaiso University students with a superior education. A rigorous liberal arts education, professional experiences, and leadership opportunities provide a competitive advantage that propels Valpo’s recent graduates into key management positions in their fields.

The staff members in Valpo’s Financial Aid office understand the challenges students and families encounter when paying for a quality education. They can help with questions about early estimates of aid, awards, and filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). They can also help you explore the benefits of different financing options. Our goal is to find the right financial assistance package for you.

Personal appointments or walk-in visits are available during Financial Aid’s regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Go to valpo.edu/student-financial-services or call 219.464.5015 or 888.GO.VALPO for more information.

Good luck with your search process. Valpo is an inviting campus community, and we hope that you will join us.

To qualify for aid listed on these charts, you must be: an admitted student of Valparaiso University, international or domestic, enrolled in a degree program, and enrolled full time (at least 12 credits per semester) for most aid programs. Most aid is renewable as long as you continue to be a full-time student pursuing your bachelor’s degree and meet minimum standards of satisfactory academic progress. Many require only an admission application. Additional requirements for each program are listed above.

LOANSA variety of loan programs are available to Valpo students to help bridge the gap between the costs of college and the resources available to the student and family. Valpo’s low federal loan default rate of 3 percent, compared to a national average of 13.7 percent, reflects that a Valpo education enables our graduates to repay their loans.

FEDERAL LOANS INCLUDE:

• Loans that have no interest or repayment as long as the student is enrolled at least half time, and a fixed interest rate when repayment does begin, for students who show need when completing the FAFSA.

• For those who file the FAFSA but do not qualify for need-based aid, loans with interest accruing from the time of disbursement and deferred repayment as long as the student is enrolled at least half time.

• Parent loans with a fixed interest rate and repayment deferred until the student is no longer enrolled.

PRIVATE ALTERNATIVE LOANS are offered by a variety of lenders at competitive interest rates.

Visit valpo.edu/financialaid/loans for additional information about loans, including loan repayment calculators.

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIESAll students are eligible for campus employment, and a listing of open positions is maintained on the Financial Aid website. About 40 percent of Valpo students work on campus or nearby, generally working 10 to 15 hours per week, and often gaining valuable professional experience in addition to the income earned.

PAYMENT PLANS valpo.afford.comValpo offers a convenient payment plan through Tuition Management Systems that allows a family to divide the balance due across 3, 4, or 5 month semester plans with a low per-semester fee.

PRIVATE COLLEGE 529 PLANA pre-paid tuition plan supported by Valpo. Visit privatecollege529.com for more information.
