Valora Tree’s years with a camera beganwhen she was a teenager and received a KodakBrownie Hawkeye camera for her birthday. It hada special (though crude) time-exposure knob,and she remembers using it occasionally. Howinteresting, to shoot pictures in low available lightminus a flash attachment!

A decade later she bought a high qualityPentax Spotmatic along with several differentlenses, and for the next twenty-five years,photography became her fondest form ofexpression. She contributed to group exhibitions,sold in galleries, had her work displayed at a civiccenter building, a winery, a post office, a library,a few newspapers, a few magazines, and evengot an “update” form from some “Who’s Who inPhotography” publication back in the 1980s.(She answered that she didn’t think shebelonged in it.) So perhaps her involvementwent beyond the hobby stage, but she says,“The fun might have gone out of it if I’d taken ittoo seriously.”
