194 STEP BY STEP

STEP 03 Secure the lever to the bracket with a type X screw. Don’t overtighten the screw, so the lever can move freely.

STEP 01 Retrieve the footpeg bracket and the left footpeg from Stage 54. Fit the footpeg to the bracket, as shown.

STEP 02 Fit the gear lever to the indicated hole in the bracket.

STEP 04 Fix the linkage to the gear lever with a type X screw. Make sure the parts are positioned correctly, as shown.

STEP 05 Fit the two pins on the inside of the top plate into the corresponding holes in the top of the bracket.

195BUILD THE YAMAHA YZR -M1

STEP 08Fit the free end of the tube onto the linkage pin.

STEP 09 Fix the free end of the linkage to the arm at the side of the engine block with a type G screw. Check that when you press on the left footpeg, that the linkage and the arm move back.

STEP 06 Take the left footpeg assembly and fit the two holes at the front over the corresponding holes in the rear of the frame.

STEP 07 Secure the footpeg assembly to the frame with two type K screws. Locate the indicated tube.

197BUILD THE YAMAHA YZR -M1

STEP 02 Join the two halves of the duct together, as shown.

STEP 04 Place the airbox into position, to match the one shown here.

STEP 01 Locate the posts and matching holes in the two halves of the duct.

STEP 03 Retrieve the airbox assembled in Stage 37. The holes in the bottom of the airbox match with those in the throttle bodies.

STEP 05 Take the duct and insert it into the front of the airbox, as shown.

STEP 07 Tighten a type C screw into the aligned holes to secure the right side of the duct.

STEP 06 Align the holes in the underside of the duct with the corresponding holes in the frame.

STEP 08 Tighten another type C screw into the aligned holes on the left side of the duct.

STEP 01 Locate the two holes in the left side of the subframe.

STEP 02 Push the pins in the fairlead into the two holes in

the side of the subframe.

STEP 03 Fit the 165mm tube to the straight end of the connector, as shown.

STEP 04 Fit the 40mm tube to the rounded end of the connector.

STEP 05 Bend the 40mm tube as shown, and fit it onto the indicated pin.

STEP 06 Clip the 165mm tube into the circled fairlead on the side

of the frame.

STEP 02 Place the lower air intake half into position on the subframe, as shown.

STEP 01 Take the subframe

(Stage 57) and align the holes

in the lower air intake

half with the indicated

posts.

STEP 03 Fix the lower air intake half to the subframe with two type I screws.
