February 2019 Sermon Series – Won’t You Be My Neighbor?
“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor, would you be mine? Could you be mine?” This is the theme song from the beginning of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Mr. Fred Roger’s set the standard for, and showed so many of us, what it means to be a good neighbor. He constantly and consistently taught people of all ages what it means to approach everyday with an attitude of love. This message and this point get to the heart of the Gospel. We are called to love our God and to love our neighbors well. Throughout the month of February, we are going to focus on the art of being a good neighbor with our sermon series, Won’t You Be My Neighbor? We will focus on our relationships with God and with each other, what it means to live life joyfully and with abundance, and we will conclude by experiencing the freedom that God offers us. So, as Mr. Rogers would say, “Won’t you please, won’t you please, please won’t you be my neighbor?” Date: Sermon Topic: Scripture: Special Day:_______________ February 3rd Our Relationship with God Ephesians 2:11 to 22 Food Pantry Sunday February 10th Relationship by Design Acts 2:42 to 47 Youth/Scout Sunday

As we begin a new year, let us take time to plan and
make stewardship of time and talent a part of our
lifestyle and stewardship of treasure a part of our
budget.
Your first responsibility is to take care of your needs
and the needs of your family – not necessarily all
their wants. In looking at what we need versus what
we want, we end up placing material things and
money in their proper perspective.
“Everyone must give according to what he has inwardly decided; not sadly, not grudgingly, for God loves a cheerful giver”
(2 Corinthians 9:7).
All too often, stewardship is presented only with the church support or the funding of other charities as the goal. This is too
limiting. Stewardship also involves time and talent.
“For your heart will always be where your riches are” (Matthew 6:21).
United Methodist Women A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Service 2019
The Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Service is an opportunity for UMW Members to learn more about the difficult circumstance’s children and youth face around the world, to discover how UMW is promoting the children’s well-being and equal opportunities for them, and to hear how UMW members can support children and youth in need through the Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Offering. The Mission focus for 2019 is “Building a Thriving Generation of Children and Youth Worldwide”, which provides an opportunity for UMW members to learn more about the difficult circumstance’s children and youth face at home and abroad. All offerings received from this years’ service will go to programs that promote well-being and equal opportunities for children and youth in need, including Anti-violence and child protections programs, afterschool and wraparound programs, equal access to education, vocational livelihood training for vulnerable children and youth, and many more. Join our UMW in Martin Hall, Monday, March 4th for this year’s Call to Prayer and Self-Denial Service. The program will begin at 6:30pm in Martin Hall. Pizza, salad and a beverage will be provided.
