Trivia Answer: When gasoline ignites in a cylinder, the piston moves in a straight line. Yourwheels, on the other hand, need to turn. The piston moves a connecting rod, which turns thecrankshaft, producing the rotational motion.
Trea$urer’s Report
Ga$$$
A gallon of gas cost less than a quarter in 1945.However, after adjusting for inflation, fuelcosts that year were roughly in line with to-day’s prices. Still, gas prices have ranged dra-matically in the last several decades, from aninflation adjusted average national low of $1.47in 1998, to a high of $3.80 in 2012.
TRIVIA NOTE: PENNSYLVANIA: The first gasstation in the US opened in 1913 in Pittsburgh.
Two states ban self-serve gasoline: Oregon andNew Jersey. But while full-service gas usually ismore expensive, Jersey residents get a breakbecause the state's gas taxes are the third-lowest in the U.S. (after Wyoming and Alaska).

Be prepared to pay extra sales tax in Arkansas if you're thinking about getting a tattoo — or evenelectrolysis. Though it's unlikely any rebellious teens got in trouble for coming home without bodyhair, electrolysis treatments are taxed an extra 6 percent along with tattoos and body piercings.
