• Vacuum your forced air system filter so it doesn’t have to work as hard to pull the air through it.

• Test your doors for leaks. Go outside in the dark and check for light shining through.

• Vacuum your refrigerator coils. Check the gasket seals by closing a piece of paper in the door. If you can move it up and down easily, the gaskets are not sealing well, and warm air is leaking in.

• Unplug or recycle extra refrigerators. Older and second units may use as much as 40% more energy than newer models.

• Keep the dryer lint trap and the exhaust vent clean so the dryer doesn’t have to work as hard. In fact, a dirty lint trap will slow down the drying process.

• Use the air-dry mode in your dishwasher.

It’s Easy Being Green… (a few tips)Here are some simple suggestions to save water and energy… and money!

Electronic Waste (E-waste)Electronic waste may contain potentially toxic substances such as lead, copper, and other heavy metals. This is why they must be disposed of properly! Electronic waste, or e-waste, may include computers, monitors and televisions. Please do not place e-waste in any of the barrels. Please Contact our Customer Service Department for more information.

Go Green, Go Paperless! The paper used to produce billing statements can really add up. Just one ton of uncoated virgin (non-recycled) printing and office paper uses 24 trees. Going paperless for billing statements is great for the environment. When you sign up at www.burrtec.com you can pay your bill online, receive billing notifications, sign up for auto pay, read your newsletters and receive email notifications for upcoming holidays. Go green, go paperless today!

Recycle Right!Place these types of materials in your recycling barrel or bin. Make sure all containers are completely empty.

Aerosol cans (must be completely empty) Aluminum cans Brochures Cardboard Cereal boxes (remove wax paper lining) Computer paper Coupons Envelopes (includes plastic windows) Glass bottles & jars Glass cosmetic bottles Junk mail Laundry bottles Magazines/catalogs Newspaper Paper Paper tubes Phone books Plastic containers #1-#7 Plastic milk jugs Tin cans Tissue boxes Wrapping paper

Recycling the correct materials adds to the success of your recycling program. Remember to avoid putting the following materials in the Recycling container.
