Intelligent Transport Systems: context

Orange Labs Networks – V2V/V2I and LTE cooperation

Primary public objective: reduction of car accidents, providing road

operators the possibility to warn drivers for route hazard or using communication systems for impact avoidance Road safety services (ex stopped vehicle, wrong way driving, hard braking, speed limits)

Ecological purpose: transportation and traffic regulation optimized,

allowing reduction of petrol consumption and emissions of green house effect gases Traffic management services (ex road information, in vehicle signage, traffic information and route/navigation guidance)

ConclusionChallenges Large experience of Orange Labs to address the challenge of communications in the

connected car domain: Cooperation of heterogeneous cellular and vehicular networks combined with IP

mobility management OLN mobile router integrates complete ITS stack (standalone OBU designed to cope

with automotive systems requirements) Benefits Combination of Networks complementarity/mobility management is necessary to:

Enable efficient ITS communications which deliver service continuity to vehicular customers

Provide full fledge of connected services from safety and warning towards connected navigation & infotainment
