    2. OVERVIEW

Telit V26 STD firmware family is built from the Location Development Kit (LDK) provided by Qualcomm for their GSD5e B02 device.

    Features and Configuration

A list of characteristics and common default settings in Telit V26 STD firmware versions is provided below.

    • GPS and GLONASS constellations are enabled and used for navigation. QZSS satellite ranging is also enabled by default.

    • GALILEO constellation is supported.

    • eCall, ERA/GLO are supported.

    • Time Mark pulse (1PPS) is output on GPIO5. The 1PPS signal starts being output once the module achieves navigation with five SVs.

    • The GNSS_ON signal is output on GPIO8.

    • The serial port default protocol is NMEA at a rate of 9600bps. The supported NMEA version is 3.01. GGA, GSA, and RMC messages are output once per second while GSV is output once every 5 seconds. All other messages are disabled by default.

    • One Socket Protocol (OSP) serial data protocol is also supported.

    • Static navigation (position pinning) is disabled by default.

    • The groundtrack smoothing filter is disabled by default.

    • Velocity propagation (dead reckoning) is disabled by default.

    • Automatic altitude hold (2D navigation) is enabled.

    • Three-satellite (2D) acquisitions are enabled.

    • The default elevation mask angle for using satellite measurements is five degrees.

    • Maximum altitude is 60km.

    • The use of Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) satellite ranging for navigation, and SBAS satellite corrections for differential operation, is supported. However, SBAS usage is disabled by default.

    • Differential operation using RTCM corrections is not supported.

    • Continuous-wave and narrow-band interference detection and mitigation is performed for GPS and GLONASS frequency bands.

    • Dual UART serial operation is supported. Ports can be configured as one OSP and one NMEA, or as both NMEA. Secondary UART is disabled by default.

    • 10Hz navigation updates are supported. Default navigation rate is 1Hz.

  • 80548DSW10183A Rev. 3 Page 10 of 15 2019-05-13

    • The device wake-up feature is enabled. The module wakes up from a commanded Hibernate state if the ON_OFF input signal remains high and there is data traffic on the Host serial port.

    3. VERSION 1.0.0

Version 1.0.0 is the initial release by Telit based on Qualcomm firmware version 5.7.11-P4. It is built from the GSD5e LDK Package version 2.4.0.0 from Qualcomm.

    Description of Changes

Version 1.0.0 is intended to supersede firmware configured (FWC) binaries based on Qualcomm version 5.7.10-P2.1 (see reference 3). Version 0.0.1 was the last FWC production release from Telit, based on 5.7.10-P2.1. Changes from 0.0.1 to 1.0.0 are listed in the subsection below.

    3.1.1. Enhancements

    • Added the following Telit NMEA custom commands (please see reference 5): ▪ $PTWSVER, to poll the firmware version. ▪ $PTWSMODE (,CONST), to enable/disable and poll the GNSS constellations to

be used for the navigation solution. ▪ $PTWSLNA, to set (HIGH/LOW) and poll the internal LNA gain setting. ▪ $PTWSEPE, to enable/disable the reporting of the Estimated Position Error. ▪ $PTWSANT, to perform antenna detection. Available on antenna modules only.

    • Added support for flash memory used in newer Telit GNSS modules.

    Variants

Version 1.0.0 firmware variants are available with the following options.

    3.2.1. LNA Mode

The default internal LNA mode may be either High gain or Low gain.

    3.2.2. Antenna Detection

Antenna detection is available for antenna modules.

    Version Strings

When polled using $PTWSVER, the software version message returns a string for the Telit version of the following format:

    V26-1.0.0-STD-5.7.11P4-N96-opt

Where -opt is a six-digit hexadecimal number used to distinguish the different firmware

    variants:

    • 012000 – FW variant with LNA mode set to High gain

    • 012400 – FW variant with LNA mode set to Low gain

    • 016000 – FW variant for antenna modules with LNA mode set to High gain and Antenna Detection support

    • 016400 – FW variant for antenna modules with LNA mode set to Low gain and Antenna Detection support

Please see reference 4 on how to poll the software version message.
