SHOTTS BON ACCORD SQUAD & EQUIPMENT
SPONSORS 2007 - 2008
Shotts Bon Accord would like to extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of BEITH JUNIORS FC SBA and Beith have met on ten occasions previous to today's opening league fixture: Shotts have won four, drawn three and lost three, although this needs some clarification as the second of those matches was a West of Scotland third-round cup tie replay (the first-ever match between the two clubs having finished 1-1 at Beith on 18 January 1992) which the Bon Accord won 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw. However, a replay was ordered after it emerged that Paul Taylor, who came on six minutes before the end, was already cup-tied with Lesmahagow. Beith won the third match 1-0 at Hannah Park and Shotts were also forced to pay their travelling expenses as part of the punishment. This means that in fact SBA have won only once against Beith at HP and that was in the last match between the two on 16 May 2005 when goals from Brian Crawford and Paul Stewart resulted in a 2-0 league victory. All in all, the Bon Accord's record is much better at Bellsdale where they have never failed to score whilst that last fixture was the only time we managed to score at home against the Mighty. Both clubs will remember their first Superleague fixture here five year ago almost to the day. On 31 August 2002 the score stood 0-0 after a laboured 82 minutes in the sunshine. Then Steve Herriot was red-carded after a silly foul out on the right and the visitors ran riot with three late goals without reply. Further losses to Cumbernauld Utd, Petershill, Bellshill Athletic and Renfrew followed before we were able to stop the rot with a 5-2 win against Cambuslang Rangers in early November. Let's hope there is nothing like that disastrous run awaiting us this season.
We hope all our visitors will enjoy their visit to:

COMMUNITY
On the 1st July 2004 a new and dynamic trade union was born.
The new union, COMMUNITY, was created by the merger of the ISTC and KFAT (the steelworkers' union and the knitwear and shoe workers' union), both with a well-known history of working on behalf of workers in their respective communi-ties, eg Motherwell, Bellshill, Coatbridge (steel), and Airdrie, Lanark, and Uddingston (knitwear, shoes). The new union has around 50,000 members and in Scotland the regional office is in Motherwell and can be contacted by telephone on 01698 304567. COMMUNITY seeks to recruit those who are employed but who have no union to represent them. Willie Paterson, Regional Officer, says, "We intend to be pro-active in the communities where we are known and our track record of good trade unionism will, we hope, stand us in good stead. We aim to be the new listening force within the areas where our members live and to offer support against injustice and discrimination. We are pleased to be associ-ated with Shotts Bon Accord FC and we have members who actively support this club." COMMUNITY wishes SHOTTS BON ACCORD FC every success in season 2007 / 2008

Sectional league Cup Group 2 Saturday 4/8/07 Wishaw Juniors 2 - 2 Shotts Bon Accord On an absolutely miserable day, at possibly the only Junior ground without any semblance of protection against the elements, Shotts struggled through to take a point against the team which had effectively ended our interest in the SLC so surprisingly last season. Wishaw began the livelier and within five minutes of the kick-off, SBA were caught a swift counter attack. Stewart broke free from the left, getting on to the end of a long clearance the result a goal. It was 1-0. Bon Accord responded almost immediately and Gardner headed home from a corner three minutes later. If we thought it was going to get better then, we were very much mistaken as Wishaw continued to give as good as they got and, after 16 minutes they again took the lead when that man Stewart headed home a long diagonal cross from the right. 2-1. The thing is, it shouldn't have happened at all as the ref completely ignored the Bon Accord's cast-iron claims for a penalty kick immediately beforehand as Sneddon was hacked to the ground as he took possession of the ball. Gardner got Shotts out of trouble a few minutes later when he slammed a shot from outside the box low past the Wishaw keeper's for a very impressive equaliser. Halftime Wishaw Juniors 2 – SBA 2 The second half wasn't two minutes old before Hugh Kelly was sent off. John Boyack and Brian Jack came on three minutes later for a tired Sneddon and an injured McLintock. On another day Shotts could have scored five or six in the last third but we must also mention that Wishaw could have registered their second consecutive win against the Bon Accord but for a brilliant double-save by Andy McCondichie long before the end. SBA: McCondichie, Brown (85 Crumley), Herriot, Shields, Gaffney, White, Sneddon (50 Boyack), McLintock, (50 Jack), Allison, Gardner, Kelly Pictures by Drew Wood
