VALLEY OF THE KING TEMPLES

The Valley of the Kings is where many famous Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt were buried.

The wall paintings by the Valley of the Kings temples, still remains vibrant and bright colored to this day. It’s located in central Egypt.

Tombs for royalty and nobles were built in the Valley of the Kings during the New Kingdom. (1570 BC - 1070 BC)

KARNAK TEMPLE The huge temple complex just north of Luxor

has three main areas. The largest of these areas is the temple dedicated to the Amon and is the masterpiece of the ancient city of Thebes.

The Karnak Temple is a city of temples built over 3000 years ago.

Karnak Temple was a major religious building. The Karnak Temple is the largest temple inEgypt.

EDFU TEMPLE Out of all temples of Ancient Egypt, the Edfu

Temple is the most complete and best preserved because it was built later then the other temples.

The Edfu Temple is the 2nd largest temple in Egypt after the Karnak Temple.

KOM OMBO TEMPLE In ancient times, Kom Ombo was at an important

crossroads between the caravan route from Nubia and trails from the gold mines in the eastern desert.

Everything is duplicated there. There are two entrances, two courts, two colonnades, two hypostyle halls and two sanctuaries at Kom Ombo.

The south part is full of crocodile representations because it is offered for Sobek, one of the gods. In ancient Egypt, crocodiles were considered gods.

ABU SIMBEL Abu Simbel is the most

beautiful temple in Egyptian history.

Abu Simbel is 119 feet wide, and 100 feet high, while the large statues are 67 feet in height.

The Egyptians believed baboons played a role in helping the sun god, Ra, defeat the darkness of night.

It is located in southern Egypt. It’s location help set the modern day border between Egypt and Sudan.
