SYED LAGOONUX PORTFOLIO
About Me
I’m a recent political science graduate from Baruch Col-
lege. I studied poli-sci due to my interest in how people
interact with large, complex systems and vice versa, as
well as how people influence and leverage each other.
During college, I coached and taught Lego Robotics at
Robodmindtech, a STEM learning center. I really enjoy
teaching and building things, and helping my students
problem solve for their FLL (First Lego League) chal-
lenges.
Post-graduation, I worked as a tech recruiter where
I learned about “UX Design”. A bit of research found
that it was a field that had many of my interests: prob-
lem-solving, research, prototyping, technology, etc.
That led me to General Assembly, where I enrolled in
the UX Immersive where I learned some great new skills
and worked on some equally great projects.
Following are some of the skills I’ve learned and two
projects I’ve worked on.
Skills & Tools
Research - Surveys, User Interviews (In-person and Long Distance), Usability Testing
Analysis - Competitive & Comparative analysis, Task analysis, Heuristic Evaluation
Features - Interface design, Brainstorming, Fea-ture prioritization
Wireframes - Wireframes (paper & digital), An-notated Wireframes, Specfication documents
Prototype - Paper Prototype, Digital software, Usability testing
Tools - Omnigraffle, Axure, Adobe Suite, POP, Invision
Intrepid Travels - Case Study #1
Intrepid Travels is a small adventure travel com-pany, that organizes small group travel to take tours around the world.
Challenge:1. Improve the search functionality on the site2. Responsive re-design that fits across various
screens.
Research
User Survey User Interviews
Personas Affinity Mapping
Findings
• People enjoyed talking about their trips. Their relation-ship with their past vacations were narrated in an organ-ic and natural way.
• Booking a trip was almost universally hated, and curated tours even more so, except on the rare occasions when the value of a tour was emphasized.
• There were many kinds of travelers, and their habits grouped together enough to reveal patterns. i.e. Younger travelers enjoyed more athletic activities vs Older trav-elers who practiced a more sedentary vacation style.

Solutions
1. Search is now replaced with a “mad-lib” format that is easy to under-stand and responds to users input.
2. Simple icons are used to represent different categories i.e. destina-tions.
3. Trip style offerings now have rec-ommendations that help nudge travellers towards the style that is targeted to their specific demo-graphic.
Step.com Travels - Case Study #2
Step.com is a career development startup that helps passive job seekers be insulated from job inquires from potential employees that are ir-relevant to their interest.
Challenge:1. Make the onboarding process engaging2. Speed the process of building a profiles3. Improve the site’s data-visualization
Research
Competitive Analysis Survey User Interview
Personas Usability Testing Heuristic Evaluation
Findings
• #1 reason cited for hating profile creation AND aban-doning profiles was the length of the process
• Potential job seekers used more then one site when look-ing for work
• Of those sites, Ladders and Indeed were the most suc-cessful due to having simple profile creation processes and clean interfaces
• Users found the the data visualization interesting at first but not easy to understand when they looked at the graphs for any length of time.
• The site was strong in terms of Credibility and Value but weak in Usability and Clarity
