Spring/Summer Positions and Paid Internships Wells Medina Nursery is a family-owned plant nursery located on the east end of the 520 Bridge, just across Lake Washington from UW’s main campus. The nursery’s mission to “share and foster the enjoyment of gardening” is achieved through its knowledgeable and passionate staff. We are hoping to add to our dedicated staff and further engage with the community by partnering with UW’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences to offer a paid internship. In addition to earning competitive wages and college credit, this position is a great way to work hands-on with native and exotic plants, gain professional experience and make contacts in the nursery industry.

Wells Medina Nursery is a family-owned plant nursery located on the east end of the 520 Bridge, just across Lake Washington from UW’s main campus. The nursery’s mission to “share and foster the enjoyment of gardening” is achieved through its knowledgeable and passionate staff. We are hoping to add to our dedicated staff and further engage with the community by partnering with UW’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences to offer a paid internship. What we are looking for:

The nursery is looking for current students and graduates that are passionate about horticulture and eager to learn more about the nursery industry. Ideal candidates will be able to begin in March and work 20-40 hours per week including weekend shifts. Interns/employees will perform general nursery duties, care for plants, assist customers, work on special projects, and eventually specialize into a department based on interest and skill. Teamwork is crucial to our success, so applicants must be team players!

What to expect:

General nursery tasks include watering, unloading trucks, tagging items, organizing plant beds, grooming, and equipment maintenance. Customer service tasks include greeting customers, ringing up sales, researching gardening questions, loading cars, and making thoughtful plant suggestions.

Interns/employees are expected to:

- Show up on time and follow directions- Work outdoors in various weather conditions- Work well with customers and seek answers to their questions- Be able to solo lift 45 lbs and help with team lifts- Work well independently and with a team
