    o The Daksh Mahadev

    Temple is an ancient

    shrine situated to the

    south of Kankhal town.o This temple was

    constructed by Queen

    Dhankaur in AD 1810.

    Located on the bank of theholy Ganges, the shrine iscounted amongst theoldest temples inRishikesh.

    Contrary to what the namesuggests, it is notdedicated to Lord Ramas

    brother Bharat. Rather, ithas an idol of Lord Vishnu,

    which is said to be carvedout of a single 'Salagram'.

    The temple wasconstructed by AdiguruShankracharya, in 12th

    century.

    RAJAJI NATIONAL PARK The Chila Wildlife

    Sanctuary, part of theRajaji National Park, coversan area of around 240 sq.km.

    It has 23 species ofmammals and 315 faunaspecies.

    You can also catch glimpsesof elephants, tigers,leopards, jungle cats,

    Himalayan yellow throatedmartens, sambers, chitals,barking dears, wild boars,langurs, ghurals, sloth bears,king cobras, woodpeckers,etc.

    LAKSHMAN JHULA

    Lakshman Jhula isbuilt on the riverGanges and is a majortourist attraction ofRishikesh.

    As the legend goes,the original bridgeused by Laxman wasmade of jute and waswobbly.

    The bridge, in itspresent iron form, wasbuilt in the year 1939.
