EXPERIENCE THE ENERGY OF THIERRY FISCHER AND THE UTAH SYMPHONY

MENDELSSOHN SYMPHONY CYCLE Following the success of the 2011–12 Beethoven Cycle comes Thierry Fischer’s Mendelssohn Cycle. During the 2012-13 season the Utah Symphony will perform all five of the child prodigy’s symphonies, including his popular “Scottish” and “Italian,” over four special weekends.

TCHAIKOVSKY CELEBRATION For two weekends in April, Abravanel Hall becomes Tchaikovsky central. Thierry Fischer conducts Tchaikovsky’s Fifth and “Pathétique” symphonies and joins Louis Lortie for his marathon performances of all three Tchaikovsky piano concerti!

When you subscribe to the Utah Symphony’s Masterworks Series, you experience the entire sweep of history’s orchestral music in a single season. The 2012–13 season features brilliant guest artists and internationally renowned conductors who lend their awe-inspiring talents to the Classically Charged performances of the Utah Symphony musicians.

CONDUCTING. ENERGY.

“Even with today’s technology, nothing can replace live music—that specific moment in the concert hall when you feel this energy and realize how important live music is for us all.”

-Thierry Fischer

From the moment Music Director Thierry Fischer takes the podium, the feeling is contagious. High-voltage brass, wired woodwinds, electrifying percussion, and a surge of strings fill both Abravanel Hall and patrons’ hearts.
