using the library to get kindle books
TRANSCRIPT
USING THE LIBRARY TO GET KINDLE BOOKSStep-by-step instructions for the Huntington Beach Public Library patron to follow to check out an e-book for their Kindle.
The website should add the title to your “wait-list” (note: you may have to sign-on with library card # and last 4 digits of phone #...)
You now have your library book
If you have a Kindle Fire, all the previous steps can be performed on your Kindle Fire, using the WIFI function
To physically see your book on your Kindle Fire, you must turn off the Kindle Fire and restart it.
When the Amazon site sees that your Fire is on, it automatically downloads the book.
For other Kindle models that download from your computer, you will need to use a USB cable between your computer and your Kindle to complete the download process.
To Manage your Amazon Account
You may wish to manage your Amazon account library books for several reasons:
You have read the book and want to get it off your Kindle screen.
You want to return the book to the library so someone else can enjoy it.
You may like the book enough that you want to purchase it from Amazon (Amazon LIKES that…)
In these cases, the next screen will start to show you how to manage your Amazon Account.
The ACTION tab enables you to
Deliver a book to your Kindle (or other e-readers that you may have registered in your Amazon file)
Purchase a book (Amazon LOVES this…)
Download and transfer a book to a Kindle that does not have WIFI
Return the book to the library.
Other patrons of the library will benefit if you return the book when you are done, because then it becomes available to the next person on the list.
If you do not return the book when you are done, it will automatically return to the library after the number of days you selected when you downloaded the book: 7…14…or 21 days.
