Using PowerPointCreating more dynamic presentations

Non-Public School ServicesChester County Intermediate UnitDeborah Watson

Why Use PowerPoint?

• improve communication effectiveness• improve audience’s perceptions of presenter• improve speaker’s confidence

A Study of the Effects of the Use of Overhead Transparencies on Business Meetings, Wharton Applied Research Center Wharton School University of Pennsylvania, 1981

Visually vs. Verbally

PowerPoint works best for visually items. Multiple channels is more efficient than

communication over a single channel. A picture aids in memory by making a visual

connection to an abstract idea.• Memory rests on connections.

• A vivid picture forms a solid connection.

PowerPoint makes it easy to create visuals, and, by using a template, make it easy to be consistent.
