Using ICT tools effectively to aid communications

Throughout this unit we had to keep checking our mark scheme to make sure we were up to date on our tasks; this was done on Microsoft Excel and we had to understand how this programme worked in order to understand it. This saves as a .xlsx file.

For some tasks in this unit we had to produce a leaflet containing different information, for this I used Microsoft Publisher. This is good for creating leaflets and brochure type documents because it give plenty of templates to start your work on. This saves as a .pubx file.

For a majority of the tasks in Unit 30 we used Microsoft Word to create different documents, this one was Task 03. Word was a good choice for this as it allowed me to create a table within the programme its self. It also gives a very professional finish to it and this saves as a .docx.

Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Previous Slide)

For some tasks we needed to include pictures to make our work look professional and to stand out, we did this by enhancing and editing them in Adobe Photoshop CS4. This was a good choice of programme because I already knew how to use it and it gives an outstanding finish to the images. You can save this as many different file types, but the default is a .psd file.

An online software I used was Dropbox, this is an online cloud storage facility which allows me to store all of my work. I used this on my computer in school, at home, and on my mobile phone. It is very useful because it assures that I don’t loose any of my work if I misplace my memory stick, also its free and gives easy access.

This was another online service I used called Bubbl.us, it is an online brainstorming or mind mapping software. Its useful because its free and easy to use, also you can save your work online for other people to view and print your work straight from the website.
