Page 20

Note: a combined playlist evolves in time. When new videos corresponding to the filters set are delivered to the platform, the combined playlist will grow automatically.

Note: content order can’t be changed in a combined playlist. A combined playlist can be played as a shuffled playlist in a programme. If a specific oder is requested then it is possible to save a combined playlist as a standard playlist and then reorder the content.

IX. Permanent and loudness functionThe ‘Permanent’ and ‘Loudness’ functions in a playlist are only available for the atmosphere audio player (Linux).

Permanent: the atmosphere audio player doesn’t store all content due to the very large amount of audio content available. Starting a playlist with new content to download could take up to 15 sec. If ‘Permanent’ is selected in an audio playlist, its content will stay on the player and the playlist will be selectable right away.

Loudness: two different loudness levels can be set in the atmosphere audio player preferences while configuring the player in a location. ‘Normal’ for the standard background music loudness and ‘Loud’ for special music requests, announcements or promotion content. All playlists are automatically set to ‘Normal’, selecting ‘Loud’ will trigger the louder level previously set for the player.

The new event created appears now in the ‘Video Sequence’. You can create further events to complete your programme. The programme has a maximum length of 24 hours.

Save the new edited programme

Note: after adding an event, the duration of the selected playlist is shown right to the playlist name. This is the duration of content in the playlist. If this duration is longer than the programmed time, the programme will interrupt the playlist at the end time and play the next event. If the duration of the playlist is shorter, the programme will loop the playlist until the next event. Therefore the playlist content duration should always be longer than the programmed time to avoid repetitions.

Note: A programme break is when nothing has been programmed for a specific time (i.a. 16:00 to 17:00 in the above graphic). The player will stop to play, video and audio will be turned off.

c. Schedule

I. Using local schedule

The schedule window allows to play automatic schedules, schedules can be the local schedule on the computer or the online schedules programmed through the Client Portal when ‘Use online schedule’ is selected.

• Autostart schedule: enables automatic playback of schedule.

• Mapping programmes: programmes can be mapped to each day of the week, as shown.

• Idle Timeout: When ‘Autostart Schedule’ is enabled, an idle timeout controls how long the system will wait since the last interaction before starting schedule playback. An interaction is a mouse click, key stroke or any interaction via the iPad controller. Idle timeout only happens if no video is playing and the display is not been used externally (video wall controller input). Idle timeout minimum value is 10 seconds.

• Wait for timeout on launch: makes atmosphere wait for the ‘Launch Wait Time’ set under ‘Options’ after launch instead of immediately starting schedule playback.

Page 34

f. Content updates

Background content updates are automatic with the atmosphere media player©. This features is disabled when installing the software for the first time. Enable it to receive new content and content updates.

Content update mode: three modes are available:

• ‘LAN + Internet’ and ‘LAN Only’ modes are only relevant when two or more atmosphere players are installed in a location. Multiple atmosphere players can share their content over LAN and therefore minimise drastically network usage. ‘LAN + Internet’ means that the player will try to get the content over LAN from another player or if it is not possible get it through the internet from the atmosphere cloud. ‘LAN Only’ means the player will only update content over LAN and never go to the internet.

• ‘Folder’ allows to copy content from an external drive. The missing content will be put automatically into the right directory.

Enable LAN content sharing: if you want the player to share its content with other players in your location turn content sharing on.

d. Security

The Security window allows you to change the password for remote access. The password can be made visible. Enter the new password, confirm and save.

e. Controllers

The iPad controller app and the atmosphere media desktop player have to be paired for security reasons. To pair an iPad, you have to enter the password of the player (set in atmosphere preferences: Security) the first time you connect. You can connect multiple iPads.

• Forced iPad controller connection: Allows an iPad to take control of an atmosphere media player© even if another iPad is controlling it. Password entry on the iPad is required.

• Content Location: the path to your content folder can be changed. Write the new path and save.

• Lauch Delay: you can change the launch delay of your player. This feature supportslaunching the atmosphere media player© only after the MacOS desktop has been configured, typically on boot. Valid values are 0 to 120 seconds.

• Audio Delay: set the delay on audio so that displays that render video with a delay can still be lip-synced. Audio delay is set in milliseconds. By 30 frames per sec. videos, one frame delay is 33ms.

• ‘Schedule Change’: select the way the online schedule should interrupt the playback when you decide to change a schedule online: ‘At End of Playing Item’, ‘Immediately’ or ‘At End of Playing Playlist”.

Note: online schedules have to be programmed previously to selecting this function. The computer must have an online connection to download the online schedule. The computer doesn’t need a constant online connection to play.

Note: when changing between online and local schedule, you have to go back to the ‘Home’ window and ‘Take Control’ again to see the changes in the Schedule window.

Page 53

IV. UpdatesEnable background content updates: select this function to enable automatic content updates. Content update mode: two modes are available:

• ‘LAN + Internet’ and ‘LAN Only’ modes are only relevant when two or more atmosphere players are installed in a location. Multiple atmosphere players can share their content over LAN and therefore minimise drastically network usage. ‘LAN + Internet’ means that the player will try to get the content over LAN from another player or if it is not possible get it through the internet from the atmosphere cloud. ‘LAN Only’ means the player will only update content over LAN and never go to the internet.

Enable LAN content sharing: if you want the player to share its content with other players in your location turn content sharing on.

i. Points to note

1. The atmosphere media player© remembers the device that is connected to it. When you attempt to control the atmosphere media player© and it is currently being controlled by another device, control can be forced by selecting ‘Forced iPad controller connection’ in the atmosphere media player© preferences.

2. Every action on the iPad is sent to the atmosphere media player©. Thus there can be a small delay (up to one second) between tapping on the iPad app and being able to execute the next action (tap, drag etc.).

3. For actions that control playback, there is a delay of about 2 seconds before interaction is enabled again.

4. Schedule playback behaviour: a. When ‘Play Startup Schedule’ is enabled, the programme for the current day begins playing as soon as the atmosphere media player© is launched. b. When a schedule plays, it always plays the playlist/item for the current time. c. When playing local schedule, if the current time comes before the start time for the first playlist then the last playlist from the previous day is looped until the start time occurs and the day's programmes begins. This feature supports 24/7 use of the atmosphere media player©.

d. When online schedule is selected, the player will play the programmes and playlists edited on your atmosphere client portal account. If no playlist have been selected for a certain time the player will stay back and wait for the next item.

5. The system automatically calculates the start time for a playlist when added to a programme. However it is more generally the case that a playlist is desired to start at an exact time:a. When a playlist start time comes before the natural end of the previous playlist, then that playlist would be interrupted for the new playlist to start.

Page 54

b. When a playlist start time comes after the natural end of the previous playlist, then that playlist is looped until the new start time is reached. c. When moving to the next video in a playlist and the next playlist is schedule to start within 15 seconds, instead of playing the video, the system moves directly to the next playlist. This means that there could be a 15 second variance in the starting of a playlist. This is especially true if shuffle is selected.
