IntroductionMulti Channel 100V Power Amplifiers

TheCAPSeriesareprofessional100VMulti-ChannelPowerAmplifiers,containingvariousmodelswithdifferentchannelsanddifferentoutputpowerconfiguration.Differentoutputconfigurationswithtwoandfourchannelsandpowerratingsfor120Watt,240Wattand480Wattforeachchannelareavailable.

Thisway,aflexiblesolutioniscreatedforMulti-Zoneaudiodistributionsystemswithtwoormoreindependentzones.

Theyaredesignedasno-nonsenseamplifierswithonly thenecessarycontrolsandconnections,whichcreatesgreatsimplicityinuseandinstallation.AhighefficiencyandreliabilityofthedevicesisachievedbyusingswitchingpowersuppliesincombinationwithClass-DAmplifiertechnology.Atemperaturecontrolledfanconstantlykeepsallpartswithintherightoperationrange,whileavoidingexcessivebuzz.Abuilt-inmultipurposeprotectioncircuitprotectsagainstDCmalfunction,Shortcircuit,overheating,overloadandlimitsthesignalwhennecessary.

TheinputconnectionsareperformedusingbalancedXLRconnectorsandLinkoutputconnectorsareprovidedforlinkthroughtootheramplifiers.Besides,ahigh-passfilterswitch(400Hz)andaGainadjustmentpotentiometerareprovidedforeachchannel.

Theoutputconnectionsareperformedusingreliableterminalblockconnectorsandthisallishousedintoasolidconstructed,doublerackspace(2HE)19”rackmountinghousing.

Wire up the system

Front panel description

ThefrontpaneloftheCAPseriesslighlyvariesdependingoftheoutputconfigurationandpowerrating,butbasicallythepanellayoutforallCAPamplifiersissimilar.

Power switchApowerswitchallowstoswitchtheamplifieronandoff,whiletheblueindicatorLEDlocatednexttothebuttonilluminateswhenthepowerisswitchedon.

Indicator Led’sFourLED’sforeverychannelindicatetheoperationoftheamplifier.ThegreenSignalLEDilluminateswheneverasignalispresent,whilethe-20dBLEDilluminateswhentheinputsignalexceedsthe-20dBulevel.TheClipLEDilluminateswhenthecorrespondingchannelisworkingatmaximumlevel.Toensurethebestsignal-to-noiseratio,theClipLEDmayonlyilluminateatpeaklevels.

WhentheClipLEDilluminatesfrequently,theamplifierwillbeoverloaded,adistorted“Clipping”soundwillbeavailableontheoutput.TheProtectionLEDwillilluminatewhenoverheatingoccurs,oranyotherfaultisdetected.WhentheprotectionLEDisilluminated,nosignalwillbeavailableontheoutputs.TheprotectionLED’swillalsoilluminateforafewsecondswhenpoweringuptheamplifier,andwhentheamplifierisswitchedofftheywillslowlyfadeout.

TherearpaneloftheCAPseriesslightlyvariesdependingoftheoutputconfigurationandpowerrating,butbasicallythepanellayoutforallCAPamplifiersissimilar.AnXLRinputconnectorwithXLRlink-throughoutputconnector,ahighpassfilterswitch,againcontrolpotentiometerandanterminalblockoutputconnectorareprovidedforeverychannel.

AC Power inlet with fuseThemainspowersupply(100~240VAC/50~60Hz)hastobeappliedtothisACpowerinlet.TheconnectionismadebyanIECpowerconnectorandisfittedwithafuse.Whenreplacingthefuse,makesurethatthevalueofthereplacementfusematchesthevalueoftheoriginalfuse.(CAP224:T4AH/250V-CAP248:T6.3AH/250V-CAP424:T6.3AH/250V-CAP448:T12AH/250V)

High pass filter switch Bymeansofthisswitch,theintegratedHighPassFilter(HPF)canbeswitchedONandOFF.WhenthefilterisswitchedON,frequenciesbelow400Hzwillbesuppressed.

Thiscanbeusefulforeliminatinglow-frequencyhumandnoisecausedbyexternalequipmentandprotectsspeakersfromdamagecausedbyexcessivelowfrequencytransients.

Gain control potentiometer Eachchannelisfittedwithagaincontrolknobwherebythelevelforeachindividualchannelcanbeadjusted.

Loudspeaker connections Theloudspeakeroutputconnectionsareperformedusing4-pinterminalblockconnectors,makingitpossibletoconnecthighimpedance(100V)loudspeakerstotheamplifieroutputs.

Input connections TheinputconnectionsoftheamplifierareperformedusingbalancedXLRconnectors.EverychannelhasaXLRinputconnectorandaXLRlinkoutputconnector.Theinputsignalfromthesignalsource,pre-amplifierormixershouldbeconnectedtotheXLRinputconnections.AndbymeansoftheXLRlinkoutputconnectors,thesignalcanbelinkedthroughtomultipleamplifiers.
