Safety informationIn the interest of your safety and to ensure thecorrect use, before installing and first using theappliance, read this user manual carefully, in-cluding its hints and warnings. To avoid unnec-essary mistakes and accidents, it is importantto ensure that all people using the applianceare thoroughly familiar with its operation andsafety features. Save these instructions andmake sure that they remain with the applianceif it is moved or sold, so that everyone using itthrough its life will be properly informed on ap-pliance use and safety.

Correct use• This dishwasher is only intended for washing

household utensils suitable for machinewashing.

• Do not put any solvents in the dishwasher.This could cause an explosion.

• Knives and other items with sharp pointsmust be loaded in the cutlery basket withtheir points down or placed in a horizontalposition in the upper basket.

• Only use products (detergent, salt and rinseaid) suitable for dishwashers.

• Avoid opening the door whilst the applianceis in operation, hot steam may escape.

• Do not take any dishes out of the dishwasherbefore the end of the dishwashing cycle.

• After use, isolate the appliance from thepower supply and turn off the water supply.

• This product should be serviced only by anauthorised service engineer, and only gen-uine spare parts should be used.

• Under no circumstances should you attemptto repair the machine yourself. Repairs car-ried out by inexperienced persons will causeinjury or serious malfunctioning. Contactyour local Service Force Centre. Always in-sist on genuine spare parts.

General safety• Dishwasher detergents can cause chemical

burns to eyes, mouth and throat. Could en-danger life! Comply with the safety instruc-tions of the dishwasher detergent manufac-turer.

• The water in your dishwasher is not for drink-ing. Detergent residues may still be presentin your machine.

• Ensure that the door of the dishwasher isalways closed when it is not being loaded orunloaded. In this way you will avoid anybodytripping over the open door and hurtingthemselves.

• Do not sit or stand on the open door.

Child safety• This appliance is designed to be operated

�by adults. Don t allow children to use thedishwasher unsupervised.

• Keep all packaging well away from children.There is risk of suffocation.

• Keep all detergents in a safe place out of�children s reach.

• Keep children well away from the dishwash-er when the door is open.

Installation• Check your dishwasher for any transport

damage. Never connect a damaged ma-chine. If your dishwasher is damaged con-tact your supplier.

• All packaging must be removed before use.• Any electrical and plumbing work required to

install this appliance must be carried out bya qualified and competent person.

• For safety reasons it is dangerous to alterthe specifications or attempt to modify thisproduct in any way.

• Never use the dishwasher if the electricalsupply cable and water hoses are damaged;

or if the control panel, work top or plinth areaare damaged such that the inside of the ap-pliance is freely accessible. Contact yourlocal Service Force centre, in order to avoidhazard.

• All sides of the dishwasher must never bedrilled to prevent damage to hydraulic andelectric components.

CAUTION!For electrical and water connection carefullyfollow the instructions given in specific para-graphs.

Start/cancel button • Starting the washing programme:1. Select a washing programme.2. Press the Start/Cancel button (corresponding

light on).

IMPORTANT!Once the programme has started, if you want tochange the selection made you must cancel thewashing programme in progress.

• Cancel the washing programme in progress:1. Press and hold the Start/Cancel button until

the corresponding light turns off.2. Release the Start/Cancel button.3. Turn the programme selector dial to the Off

position or select a new washing programme(check that there is detergent in the detergentdispenser.

Indicator lightEnd of programme indicator light Illuminates when the washing programme has ended.

Switch off the dishwasher by returning the programmeselector dial to the Off position. The On/Off indicatorlight turns off.It also has added functions of visual signalling as:– the setting of the water softener,– intervention of an alarm due to the malfunction of

the machine.

1) Ideal for washing a partially loaded dishwasher. This is perfect daily programme, made to meet the needs of a family of 4persons who only wish to load breakfast and dinner crockery and cutlery.

2) Test programme for test institutes.

First useBefore using your dishwasher for the first time:• Ensure that the electrical and water connec-

tions comply with the installation instructions• Remove all packaging from inside the appli-

ance• Set the water softener

• Pour 1 litre of water inside the salt containerand then fill with dishwasher salt

• Fill the rinse aid dispenser

When using tablets thatintegrate rinse aid anddetergent:there is no need to fill up with rinse aid– set the water softener– add special (dishwasher) salt

When using tablets thatintegrate rinse aid, detergent,salt function and otheradditives:there is no need to fill up with special salt orrinse aid.Check whether these detergents are suitablefor your water hardness. Follow the manufac-turers instructions.

– Set the water hardness to level 1.

IMPORTANT!If the drying results are not satisfactory we rec-ommend that you:1. Fill up the rinse aid dispenser with rinse aid.2. Set the rinse aid dosage to position 2.

If you decide in future to use separated deter-gents, we advise that you:– Fill up the salt and rinse aid container.– Adjust the water hardness setting to the

highest level and perform 1 normal washingprogramme without loading any dishes.

– Adjust the water hardness setting accordingto the hardness of the water in your area.

– Adjust the rinse aid dosage

Set the water softenerThe dishwasher is equipped with a water soft-ener designed to remove minerals and saltsfrom the water supply, which would have a det-rimental or adverse effect on the operation ofthe appliance.The higher the content of these minerals andsalts, the harder your water is.Water hardness is measured in equivalentscales, Clarke degrees, French degrees (°TH)

and mmol/l (millimol per litre - international unitfor the hardness of water).The softener should be adjusted according tothe hardness of the water in your area. Yourlocal Water Authority can advise you on thehardness of the water in your area.

The water softener must be set in both ways:manually, using the water hardness dial andelectronically.

Press and hold the start/cancel button and turn theprogramme selector dial clockwise till the first pro-gramme.Keep the button pressed until the programme selectorindicator light and the start/cancel indicator light startflashing.

Release the button. The end of programme indicatorlight will flash. The number of flashes corresponds tocurrent level set.The end of programme indicator light might flash 5times, for example. The flashing is repeated every 5seconds.To change the level, press the start/cancel button.Each time the button is pressed the level increases.(Level 1 follows level 10).The end of programme indicator light indicates thenew setting.To memorise the operation, turn the programme se-lector dial to position off.

Filling with dishwasher salt CAUTION!

Use only special salt suitable for dishwashers.

Unscrew the cap. Only before filling withsalt for the first time, fillthe salt container withwater.

Using the funnel provi-ded, pour in the salt untilthe container is filled withsalt.

Remove any trace of salt. Replace the cap tightlyturning it clockwise until itstops with a click.

IMPORTANT!Immediately start a complete programme.

IMPORTANT!Water will overflow from the container as salt is add-ed.

IMPORTANT!The salt container will require topping up periodically.

The salt cap has a refill indicator window in the centrein which a green float is clearly visible when there issalt inside the container and almost disappears whenthe salt has finished.

Filling with rinse aid

Open the lid. Fill up with rinse aid. Themaximum level for fillingis indicated by "max"

Clean up any rinse aidwhich overflows. Closethe lid and press until itlocks.

Top up the rinse aid indi-cator (B) becomes clear

CAUTION!Never fill the rinse aid dispenser with any other substances (e.g. dishwashercleaning agent, liquid detergent). This would damage the appliance.

Adjusting the dosage of rinse aidIncrease the dose if there are drops of water orlime spots on the dishes after washing.

Reduce the dose if there are whitish streaks onthe dishes or a bluish film on glassware or knifeblades.

Open the lid. Set the dosage level.(The dose is factory set inposition 4).

Close the lid and pressuntil it locks.

Loading cutlery and dishesSponges, household cloths and any object thatcan absorb water may not be washed in thedishwasher.• Before loading the dishes, you should:

– Remove all left over food and debris.– Soften remnants of burnt food in pans

• When loading the dishes and cutlery, pleasenote:– Dishes and cutlery must not impede the

rotation of the spray arms.– Load hollow items such as cups, glasses,

pans, etc. with the opening downwards so

that water cannot collect in the containeror a deep base.

– Dishes and items of cutlery must not lieinside one another, or cover each other.

– To avoid damage to glasses, they mustnot touch.

– Lay small objects in the cutlery basket.

• Plastic items and pans with non stick coat-ings have a tendency to retain water drops;these items will not dry as well as porcelainand steel items.

• Light items (plastic bowls etc.) must be loa-ded in the upper basket and arranged sothey do not move.

For washing in the dishwasher the following cutlery and dishesare not suitable: are of limited suitability:

• Cutlery with wooden, horn, china or mother-of-pearls handles.

• Plastic items that are not heat resistant.• Older cutlery with glued parts that are not temper-

ature resistant.• Bonded cutlery items or dishes.• Pewter or copper items.• Lead crystal glass.• Steel items prone to rusting.• Wooden platters.• Items made from synthetics fibres.

• Only wash stoneware in the dishwasher if it is spe-cially marked as being dishwasher-safe by themanufacturer.

• Glazed patterns may fade if machine washed fre-quently.

• Silver and aluminium parts have a tendency to dis-colour during washing: Residues, e.g. egg white,egg yolk and mustard often cause discolouring andstaining on silver. Therefore always clean left-overs from silver immediately, if it is not to bewashed straight after use.

Load cutlery. For best re-sults we recommend youto use the cutlery gridprovided (if the size anddimensions of the cutleryallow it)

Place knives and otheritems of cutlery withsharp points or edgeswith their handles facingupwards. Risk of injury!

Load the lower basket.Arrange serving dishesand large lids around theedge of the basket.

Load upper basket. Lightitems (plastic bowls etc.)must be loaded in the up-per basket and arrangedso they do not move.

For taller items, the cupracks can be folded up-wards.

If plates are to be loaded in the upper basket: loadthem starting from the rear positions; tilting themslightly forwards and avoiding the front positionsnear the door.

Adjusting the height of theupper basketIf washing very large plates you can load themin the lower basket after moving the upper bas-ket to the higher position.

Maximum height of the dishes in: upper basket lower basket

With upper basket raised 20 cm 31 cmWith upper basket lowered 24 cm 27 cm

Move the front runnerstops (A) of the upper bas-ket outwards and slide thebasket out.

Refit the basket in thehigher position and re-place the stops (A) in theiroriginal position.

IMPORTANT!When the basket is in the higher position you will notbe able to use the cup racks.

Use of detergentIMPORTANT!Only use detergents suitable for dishwashers.

Observe the manufacturer’s dosing and stor-age recommendations.

Open the lid. Fill in the detergent incompartment A.

Observe the dosing lev-els.

For programmes withprewash add an addition-al detergent dose in com-partmentB.

When using detergenttablets: place detergenttablets in compartmentA.

Close the lid.

Unloading the dishwasher• Hot dishes are sensitive to knocks.

The dishes should therefore be allowed tocool down before removing from the appli-ance.

• Empty the lower basket first and then theupper one; this will avoid water dripping fromthe upper basket onto the dishes in the lowerone.

• Water may appear on the sides and the doorof the dishwasher as the stainless steel willeventually become cooler than the dishes.

CAUTION!When the washing programme has finished, itis recommended that the dishwasher is un-plugged and the water tap turned off.

Care and cleaningCleaning the filtersIMPORTANT!NEVER use the dishwasher without filters. In-correct repositioning and fitting of the filters willproduce poor washing results.

Clean filters A, B and Cthoroughly under runningwater.

Turn the handle about 1/4turn anticlockwise andremove filters B and C.

Remove filter A from thebase of the washingcompartment.

Put the flat filter A back inthe base of the washingcompartment and ensurethat it fits perfectly underthe two guidesD.

Replace the filters andlock by turning the handleclockwise to the stop.

Cleaning the spray armsNEVER try to remove the spray arms.

If residues of soil have clogged the holes in thespray arms, remove them with a cocktail stick.

External cleaningClean the external surfaces of the machine andcontrol panel with a damp soft cloth. If neces-sary use only neutral detergents. Never use

abrasive products, scouring pads or solvent(acetone, trichloroethylene etc....).

Internal cleaningEnsure that the seals around the door, the de-tergent and rinse aid dispensers are cleanedregularly with a damp cloth.We recommend every 3 months to run the washprogramme for heavy soiled dishes using de-tergent but without dishes.

Prolonged periods of non-operationIf you are not using the machine for any pro-longed period of time you are advised to:1. Unplug the appliance and then turn off the

water.2. Leave the door ajar to prevent the forma-

tion of any unpleasant smells.3. Leave the inside of the machine clean.

Frost precautionsAvoid placing the machine in a location wherethe temperature is below 0°C. If this is unavoid-able, empty the machine, close the appliancedoor, disconnect the water inlet pipe and emptyit.

Moving the machineIf you have to move the machine (moving houseetc....):1. Unplug it.2. Turn the water tap off.3. Remove the water inlet and discharge ho-

ses.4. Pull the machine out together with the ho-

ses.Avoid over tilting the machine during transpor-tation.

Environmental concernsPackaging materialThe packaging materials are environmentallyfriendly and can be recycled. The plastic com-ponents are identified by markings, e.g. >PE<,>PS<, etc. Please dispose of the packagingmaterials in the appropriate container at thecommunity waste disposal facilities.

CAUTION!When a unit is no longer being used:• Pull the plug out of the socket.• Cut off the cable and plug and dispose of

them.

• Dispose of the door catch. This preventschildren from trapping themselves insideand endangering their lives.

The symbol on the product or on its pack-aging indicates that this product may not betreated as household waste. Instead it shouldbe taken to the appropriate collection point forthe recycling of electrical and electronic equip-ment. By ensuring this product is disposed ofcorrectly, you will help prevent potential nega-tive consequences for the environment andhuman health, which could otherwise be

caused by inappropriate waste handling of thisproduct. For more detailed information aboutrecycling of this product, please contact your

local council, your household waste disposalservice or the shop where you purchased theproduct.

Something not workingThe dishwasher will not start or stops duringoperation.Certain problems are due to the lack of simplemaintenance or oversights, which can besolved with the help of the indications describedin the chart, without calling out an engineer.

Switch off the dishwasher, open the door andcarry out the following suggested corrective ac-tions.

The wash results are not satisfactoryThe dishes are not clean • The wrong washing programme has been selec-

ted.• The dishes are arranged in such a way as to stop

water reaching all parts of the surface. The basketsmust not be overloaded.

• The spray arms do not rotate freely due to incorrectarrangement of the load.

• The filters in the base of the washing compartmentare dirty or incorrectly positioned.

• Too little or no detergent has been used.• Where there are limescales deposits on the dishes;

the salt container is empty or the incorrect level ofthe water softener has been set.

• The drain hose connection is not correct.• The salt container cap is not properly closed.

The dishes are wet and dull • Rinse aid was not used.• The rinse aid dispenser is empty.

There are streaks, milky spots or a bluish coating onglasses and dishes

• Decrease rinse aid dosing.

Water drops have dries onto glasses and dishes • Increase rinse aid dosing.• The detergent may be the cause. Contact the de-

�tergent manufacturer s consumer care line.

If after all these checks, the problem persists,contact your local Service Force Centre.

Hints for test institutesTesting in accordance with EN 60704 must becarried out with appliance fully loaded and us-ing the test programme (see "Consumptionvalues").Test in accordance with EN 50242 must becarried out when the salt container and rinse

aid dispenser have been filled with salt andrinse aid respectively and using the test pro-gramme (see "Consumption values").

Installation WARNING!

Any electrical and/or plumbing work required toinstall this appliance should be carried out by aqualified electrician and/or plumber or compe-tent person.

Water connection WARNING!

The dishwasher must not be connected to openwater appliances or instantaneous water heat-

ers. This dishwasher must be fed with coldwater.

WARNING!Only use, for connection to the water mains,new hose-set; old hose-set must not be reused.

CAUTION!If the machine is connected to new pipes orpipes which have not been used for a long time,you should run the water for a few minutes be-fore connecting the inlet hose.

Inlet hoseConnect the inlet hose to a water tap with an external

thread of 3/4 .The inlet hose can be turned either to the left or theright to suit the installation by means of the locknut.The locknut must be correctly fitted to avoid waterleaks.

Drain hose

Connect drain hose tothe sink. Secure it withthe supplied hose clamp.

Required height: 30 to100 cm above bottom ofthe dishwasher.

Ensure that the hosesare not kinked, crushedor entangled.

When connecting thedrain hose to an undersink trap spigot, the en-tire plastic membrane(A) must be removed.Failure to remove all themembrane will result infood particles building upover time eventuallyblocking the dishwasherdrain hose spigot.

If you use a drain hose extension the totallength should not be longer than 4 metres.Likewise the internal diameter of the couplingsused for connections to the waste outlet mustbe no smaller than the diameter of the hoseprovided.
