1. About the application Corin RPM Admission is an interactive app for healthcare professionals to profile patients’ health.

Please note, use of this app requires an email invitation to be sent to you.

The patient will answer several questions in order to auto-assess his/her global health status. These questions

relate to personal details, lifestyle habits, fitness status, emotional status, clinical history, physical health status,

quality of life, joint functional mobility and mental aptitude.

The Corin RPM Admission app includes validated Patient Reported Functional Outcome Measures (PROMs) such

as:

EQ-5DTM

, a self-completion standardised instrument developed by EuroQol Group for use as a measure

of health outcome.

HOOS (Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score) and KOOS (Knee injury and Osteoarthritis

Outcome Score), clinical questionnaires, developed to assess the patient’s opinion about their hip/knee

and associated problems.

RAPT (Risk Assessment and Prediction Tool), a clinical score developed to predict the discharge

destination of patients undergoing elective hip and knee arthroplasty surgery.

HADS (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale), a valid and reliable self-rating scale used to determine

the levels of anxiety and depression that a patient is experiencing.

3. Joint disability

3.1 Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) HOOS (Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score) is a clinical questionnaire, developed in the 1990s as

instruments to assess the patient’s opinion about their hip and associated problems. HOOS (40 items) consists of 5

subscales: pain, symptoms, function in daily living (ADL), function in sport and recreation (Sport/Rec) and quality of

life (QOL). In 2008 HOOS-PS (Physical function Short form) was developed and is derived from the items of the

function daily living (ADL) and function sports and recreation (Sport/Rec) subscales of the respective full original

versions. HOOS-PS is digitally implemented in Corin RPM Admission.

3.2 Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) KOOS (Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score) is a clinical questionnaire, developed in the 1990s as

instruments to assess the patient’s opinion about their knee and associated problems. KOOS (42 items) consists

of 5 subscales: pain, symptoms, function in daily living (ADL), function in sport and recreation (Sport/Rec) and

quality of life (QOL). In 2008 KOOS-PS (Physical function Short form) was developed is derived from the items of

4. Risk Assessment and Prediction Tool (RAPT)

Risk Assessment and Prediction Tool (RAPT) is a clinical score developed by Oldmeadow in 2001 to predict the

discharge destination of patients undergoing elective hip and knee arthroplasty surgery. Predictions based on

objective factors provide confidence in decision making regarding discharge for patients and staff.

RAPT has the ability to indicate before surgery, the most likely discharge destination after surgery, which allows

appropriate patients to prepare themselves and their families for their return home. RAPT assists in aligning

patient’s expectations about what is needed following surgery and allows the acute hospital to commence early

discharge planning for discharge destination goal. RAPT helps to identify patients who will need the most help

after discharge.

5. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS)

The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) is a valid and reliable self-rating scale used to determine the

levels of anxiety and depression that a patient is experiencing. HADS, developed by Zigmond and Snaith in 1983,

is a fourteen items scale: seven of the items relate to anxiety and seven to depression. Each item on the

questionnaire is scored from 0-3. HADS Anxiety and HADS Depression scores are calculated separately. HADS

facilitates the early identification of both anxiety and depression simultaneously, whilst giving a separate score for

each. HADS gives clinically meaningful results as a psychological screening tool and can assess the symptom

severity and caseness of anxiety disorders and depression in patients with illness and the general population.

6. Health questionnaire (EQ-5DTM)

EQ-5DTM

is a self-completion standardised instrument for use as a measure of health outcome and consists of two

parts: EQ-5D descriptive system and EQ-VAS visual analogue scale.

EQ-5D descriptive part is available in two versions: EQ-5D-3L and EQ-5D-5L, where D represents the number of

Dimensions and L the number of Levels.

EQ-5D-5L was introduced in 2005 to improve the instrument’s sensitivity and reduce ceiling effects that were

noted with the previous version EQ-5D-3L introduced in 1990. The EQ-5D-5L descriptive system comprises the

following 5 dimensions: mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain/discomfort and anxiety/depression. Each

dimension has 5 levels: no problems, slight problems, moderate problems, severe problems, and extreme

problems.

EQ-VAS records the patient’s self-rated health on a visual analogue scale with endpoints labelled ‘the best health

you can imagine’ and ‘the worst health you can imagine’. This information can be used as a quantitative measure

of health as judged by the individual patient.
