2 Overview

The driver software is used for Meitrack tracking devices. After the driver is installed, a tracker can connect to a computer.

3 Hardware and Software Requirements

Desktop or laptop whose system is Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

4 Installing the USB232 Driver

PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller is in the USB232 Driver directory of the product CD.

Different operating systems match different drivers. The following uses Windows 7 as an example (the driver installation of

other operating systems is the same as this installation process):

1. Double-click PL2303 Driver Installer (Vista-WIN7).



2. Click Next, and install the driver as prompted.

3. Click Finish. The driver is installed successfully.



4. Connect the tracker to the computer, and view Device Manager. If Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM5) is displayed,

the driver is installed successfully.

5 Solutions for the Installation Failure

If the driver fails to be installed, the possible reason is that the driver is not compatible with the system. You can try to update

the driver by using one of the following methods:

Find specified driver software on the computer for update.

Search automatically for updated driver software in the Internet.



Note: In Windows 8, the automatic driver update is not recommended.

Perform the following operations to prevent an automatic driver update in Windows 8:

1. In Windows 8, choose Control Panel. On the All Control Panel Items page, enter device in the search box, as shown in the

following figure.

2. The device – All Control Panel Items page is displayed. Click Change device installation settings.



3. On the Device Installation Settings page, select No, let me choose what to do, and then Never install driver software

from Windows Update. Click Save Changes. The operations are complete.

To find specified driver software on the computer for update, perform the following operations:

1. On the Computer Management page, choose System Tools > Device Manager. Locate ,

as shown in the following figure.



2. Right-click Communications Port (COM6), and select Update Driver Software.

3. On the displayed page, select Browse my computer for driver software.

4. As shown in the following figure, select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.



5. Select Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port Version: 3.0.1.0 [2/12/2007] for installation.

6. If the installation is successful, will be displayed.



To search automatically for updated driver software in the Internet, perform the following operations:

1. On the Computer Management page, choose System Tools > Device Manager. Locate , as

shown in the following figure.

2. Right-click USB-Serial Controller D, and select Update Driver Software.



3. On the displayed page, select Search automatically for updated driver software.

4. The following page is displayed if the installation is successful.
