Conference paper accepted: Our paper: “Rural Wings - supporting e-learning in remote

areas by satellite technology” has been accepted for the E-Learn 07 conference in Quebec.

Strong EU-Policy toward sattelite based support for remote areas: Viviane Reding, the EU's Telecoms Commissioner: "The new

way the Commission proposes today to select mobile satellite services will give Europe's industry the necessary confidence to invest in new EU-wide services for citizens. It will also help bridge the digital divide by improving coverage in the EU's remote areas.“ Source

will be used to take into account the desired information as well as the available resources (e.g. person-months).

Data collection was/will be integrated in different stages of development and implementation of the RW-platform: Preparatory Expert Workshop (11/2006) Heuristic Usability Evaluation @ prototype stage (4/2007) Usability Testing through Coaching Method @ implementation

and training sessions (5/2007) Usability Assessment through online-Questionnaires @ a few

months of usage (7/2007)

questionnaires

B.2.3 Method online-Questionnaires [ongoing 04-11/2007 with Contributions]

A survey with online questionnaires will be conducted after a few months period of test run (08-11/2007). Questionnaires should differentiate the community-types and needs identified by the user needs analysis:

Rural Communities: Agriculture, Research, Education, Leisure, Municipality Community Needs: Education/Learning, Connectivity, State/ Community

Involvement, Business

Technical implementation and online-hosting will be organized by TUD, the questionnaires will be contributed by further partners (04-10/2007):

EA and UoA for the learning at school scenario, INSEAD for the learning at work scenario, BGU for learning at home scenario, FORTH for learning at home scenarios (confrontation of emergency situations) FORTHnet for learning at work scenarios (farmers training).

If necessary translation of final versions needs to be done by NCs.
