If you have noticed some good music coming from Fellowship Hall, it is the sounds of Esperanza Viva worshiping. Esperanza Viva, led by Edinson DeArco, is a His-panic ministry based now in Hamilton and working from our church. We want to wel-come them into our church home. October is a busy time in the life of our church family and we throw in a great deal of fun to go with it. We start off with a big bang with the Pork and Sauerkraut dinner on Friday the 6th. If you don't have your tickets you need to get them. This is one of the better attended events by the community. This dinner helps our church fund ministries consistent with our mission and values. At $10.00 for adults, it is a good deal. An all-inclusive price for an almost home cooked meal. October 15th your pastor is joining God Is In Control Ministries for the annual fashion show raising funds for cancer research and to help families dealing with cancer. There are several Hamilton celebrities that will be there. If you are interested see your pastor. Movie nighst for August and September were such a success that we are going to do it again. This time the movie is Blind Side. The event is free with popcorn and drinks. For the children, VeggieTales will be showing at the same time as the main feature in the nursery. Doors open at 6:00 with the movie starting at 6:30 in Fellowship Hall on Friday, October 27th. We close out October with the Annual Trunk or Treat celebration at the Old Court House on High Street. Hours are the same as last year 1:00 to 3:00. This year we are going to give out toilet paper for the families that come. Bring it in as we load the front of the pulpit with rolls to "bury the pastor". We will need people to decorate their trunks and pass out candy to the 1,000 plus people that will be there. You will not see this event advertised. We only invite people from the food banks, churches dealing with those needing assistance, or schools serving children below the national poverty line. We fill the need, serve the under privileged and have a whole lot of fun all at the same time. See you Sunday. Blessings to you and your family until then. Pastor Mark

Family Promise Update We welcomed 4 families (5 parents and 7 children) on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3rd. We enjoyed a pancake and bacon breakfast on Labor Day, then caravanned over to Milliken Woods where the kids enjoyed the splash pad, playground, hiking the park (they found a hidden fawn!) and we all enjoyed a picnic lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs. A huge thank you to Nancy Puckett for being our grill master and Vicki Wheeler for hang-ing out with us. A pizza and salad dinner rounded out our holiday. The next morning and the rest of the week it was back to our regular schedule of breakfast at 6:00 am, out the door by 6:30 am, back at 5:30 pm with dinner at 6:00 and evenings of homework, card games, air hockey and playing in the Ross Room and basketball in the gym with settling into our rooms around 9:00 pm. On Saturday evening we said goodbye to one family who moved into their own place and hello to a new family who took their place. Thank you to all who donated, prepared and served food; played with children; cleaned up after meals; stayed overnight; served and cleaned up breakfast; made and stripped beds; did laundry after the week was over and kept us in prayer. An extra thank you to Nancy Puckett and Barry Price who were our overnight and breakfast hosts four times during the week. We host again December 17th through the 24th. Please put us on your calendar and plan on sharing God’s love in a practical way with our guest families. Family Promise is hosting the first annual “Keeping the Promise” breakfast on Tuesday, October 24th from 7:45-8:45 am at Butler Tech. If you’d like to attend, please contact Teri Trent (312-7939) or RSVP on the Family Promise website at http://familypromisebutlercounty.com/?event=keeping-the-promise-breakfast&event_date=2017-10-24. This is a complimentary continental breakfast. One of the fa-thers that we hosted in September will be sharing his family’s story and the board President, Rev. Randy Stearns will be sharing a brief history of and update on Family Promise.
