History• At the end of the 19th century, the Urechești commune

was part of the Marginea de Sus Region of Râmnicu Sărat County and it was constituted of two villages: Urechești and Palanca, having a total number of 1675 inhabitants. In the municipality were three churches (the first was the Vărzărești Hermitage, the second was Urechești Church built by Toma's family in 1837 and the third was in Palanca built in 1840 ) and a school founded in 1892. According to the statistics made in 1925 the Urechești commune was part of the Plăinești Region , with a population of 2610.

Historic monuments

Area Activities• The Urechești Locality is classified as having,

predominantly, agricultural functions. The main activity of the inhabitants is agriculture, cattle breeding and cultivation of vines. Agricultural density is specific to the hills and lowlands areas where most of it are covered with cultivated lands. Vineyards occupy 25.56%, the orchards 1.17% and the pastures 3,78% of the administrative total. The productions varies depending on the meteorological factors of that year.
