URBAN PLANT LIFE A Visual Journal Of Plant Life within London In London we are always short of space, but more importantly Green space. This book aims to reveal innovative ways of ‘gardening’ in the city of London. It will show visual documentation of my own journeys and observations through the city based on this topic. Due to urbanization city life has its con-strengths regarding limited living space. Many of us find ourselves inhabiting modest sized flats or houses which don’t always offer outdoor space. Alternatively small balconies and window boxes are usually what most of us have access to but only if you are privileged enough to own additional space within your property at all. Otherwise you have to seek local parks or public gardens to find any natural refuge from the concrete jungle that is London. The content of the book will be based upon a hand picked selection of photographs and drawings that depict this clearly representing how people are using personal space to create a natural environment. Whether this is a balcony full of exotic trees and overgrown bushes, a window planter holding blooming flowers current to the season, gardens which belong to flats and houses or even collections of indoor plants people have found themselves caring for and are all prime examples that show the innervations regarding this subject. My observations gathered will make people become more aware of plant life within the city and influence many to become more in touch with nature. Realising even with the restraints that city life produces there are alternative ways to interact with fresh greenery within our personal lives and environments. 1
