How it worksThe UPSOLUT is installed on the ceiling in the centre of the driveway and covers up to 3 bays on either side.
On both sensor sides, up to 3 spaces can be set up for individual detection
Picture: license plates blurred by editor.
Sophisticated detection algorithms verify whether a car parks on a configured space or whether the space is empty. Depending on the installed modules license plates are found and read out.
Detection Method
IR detection combined with multiple detection via multifunctional picture analysis algorithms and object analysis.
All detection processes are carried on-board out by the sensor processor. This allows the UPSOLUT to operate even if there is no connection to the server.

Features and Options• Reliable and accurate car detection• Pictures of parked cars, overstayers, empty spaces• Several camera lenses available to cope with a wide range or installation heights,
driveway widths or space properties• RGB LED LIMO, installed on one end of the sensor (one-way traffic) or on both ends of
the sensor (bidirectional traffic)• Connection of external space indicators• OCR module for license plate recognition1
• Audio alert and video recording capability1
• Car Locator1 feature• Video surveillance• Data privacy mode• Enhanced car park reporting
UPSOLUT can also be used to add features to a UMS sensor-monitored car park—enabling car locating, VIP parking, and other LPR-based features2.
Space Indicator OptionsBay status indication can be done via integrated LIMO (Light Module, RGB LED, on one side only for one-way aisles or on either sensor for bidirectional traffic); alternatively, external RGB LED space indicators (INDECT’s SIex - see respective data sheet) can be connected to the sensor.
External space indicators are to be installed at the aisle-side edge of each bay and can be fully controlled individually per bay (colour, brightness, etc.).
1 Subject to installed software modules.2 License plate recognition accuracy depending on the national/regional license plates; subject to state
of development.

UPSOLUT MCSINDECT Data Sheet
Integrated LED indicators (LIMO) are installed in the sensor casing and show space availability on the left and right of the sensor.
In the LIMO center, a backlit symbol can be placed for further space information. This symbol ("P" in the picture) can be customized, for example, for disabled parking, parents with prams, VIP etc. Instead of a backlit symbol, the center LED matrix can be used to show numbers, letters (e.g. for aisle or zone information) or chasing arrows.
License Plate Reading / Optical Character Recognition
How it works
1. The sensor detects an occupancy on one of its monitored spaces.2. After an (adjustable) timeout of 200 seconds (to avoid open trunks, people or other
objects in front of the plate) the sensor takes HD pictures which are sent to the server.3. On the server, the HD pictures are compiled to an HDR picture which is normalized and
preprocessed. 4. The license plate position is found, the plate is cut out and read. Some countries have
additional plate identifiers such as plate items, colors or others. Depending on the country, the OCR also recognizes these plate features.
5. The OCR then stores the plate number, additional regional information (country, province, district etc.) and the link to the original HDR picture for further usage.
6. Depending on the level of data privacy the plate number on the HDR picture is blurred out.
License Plate Reading Accuracy
LPR accuracy mainly depends on optical conditions. Highly variable ambient light conditions or a stained, moist, damaged or partially covered license plate might decrease or even prevent detection. This is normal with optical systems. LPR might also be impaired by objects or persons in front of the car covering the license plate.
LPR accuracy can be improved by installing professional LPR cameras (with flash) at the entries and exits of the car park to create a whitelist of present vehicles. This whitelist helps overcoming limitations in reading accuracy due to the sensor position or potentially adverse light conditions.
Plate reading is based on the experience of the plate-reading OCR. The more plate pictures are used in improving the reading algorithm, the better the reading results will be. As there are often many different plate types in use in each country, we can not guarantee to read all types straight away. If particular plate types are not read correctly, INDECT is prepared to improve the reading accuracy when the client provides such pictures. This service is done FOC within the first year of the system operation.
Audio ModuleAdditionally, the sensor can be optionally connected to external speakers to provide situation-specific messages (for example, when unauthorised people park on a disabled bay). This feature requires an additional software module license.

UPSOLUT Installation
UPSOLUT InstallationPicture: UPSOLUT sensor with external LEDs, installed on C-channel(actual item may differ from photo)
Description
INDECT‘s UPSOLUT sensor can be installed in various ways. In most cases, direct-ceiling installation with conduits (if ceiling height is appropriate and no object are in the way) or C-channel installation are used. For the 2 main installation types, see below.
For sensor installation, only standard installation material is required.
Optionally, external space indicators can be installed, too. See below for more information.
The standard lane width is between 580 and 650 cm / 19’ and 21.5’. In case of other lane widths or required installation heights, please contact INDECT and send us the exact dimensions.
For more information on the UPSOLUT sensor please see the respective fact sheet.
C-channel Installation
The UPSOLUT is installed on a C-channel (recommendation: 300 mm / 12" wide) suspended from the ceiling (via threads). The sensor must be installed in the middle of the lane, at a height of between 230 and 270 cm / 7.5’ and 8.9’ (bottom edge of C-channel).
It must be taken care that no objects are installed underneath the green line in the picture above, so the sensors have a clear view of the spaces and cars.
Ceiling lights (flourescent lamps, LEDs etc.) must be at least 150 cm / 5’ away from the sensor. If the lights are above the sensor, the horizontal distance shall be at least 50 cm / 20".

UPSOLUT Installation
Direct-ceiling Conduit Installation
The UPSOLUT is installed directly to the ceiling. The sensor must be installed in the middle of the lane, at a height of between 230 and 270 cm / 7.5’ and 8.9’ (top edge of sensor).
It must be taken care that no objects are installed underneath the green line in the picture on page 1, so the sensors have a clear view of the spaces and cars.
Ceiling lights (flourescent lamps, LEDs etc.) must be at least 150 cm / 5’ away from the sensor. If the lights are above the sensor, the horizontal distance shall be at least 50 cm / 20".
The sensor case has several knockouts for the insertion of conduits up to 25 mm / 1".
If external space indicators are to be installed, the LED cables run in a conduit from the sensor to a C-channel on either edge of the lane to which the space indicators are attached (see picture below).
INDECT Data SheetLESY2.0 - LED Symbol
LESY2.0 - LED Symbol
Description
LED symbols are used for directing drivers to free spaces. They are installed in INDECT signs or 3rd party signs, and are connected to the INDECT bus via a Distribution Module (DIMO2.0), Master Module (MAMO2.0) or Multifunction Module (MUMO).
LED Digits (LEDI2.0) can be connected directly to a LESY2.0.
LED Symbols 2.0 can also be used without bus control via a relay and/or 24 V DC supply.
LESY2.0 are equipped with SMD LED on a black PCB. Together with INDECT’s LED digits (LEDI2.0) and sign racks (for example, the Profile Sign IP65) they make the perfect choice for flexible, durable and high-quality signage.
3-way Arrow and Arrow/Cross
New to INDECT’s sign module portfolio is the 3-way arrow or arrow/cross, which is capable of handling 3 directions with just one LED module. On either side (left and right) digits (LEDI2.0) can be connected to show the number of available spaces in either direction.
3-Way Arrow with Green LED Arrow and optional Red CrossThis LED symbol is equipped with green LEDs for the arrow and optionally red LEDs for the cross. See below for possible layouts according to space availability.
3-Way Arrow with Red/Green LEDsThis LED symbol is equipped with red/green LEDs. Driving directions with free spaces are shown in green, those with none in red. See below for possible layouts according to space availability.
Arrow/Cross and Arrow/Arrow
Also INDECT’s standard arrow/cross or arrow/arrow symbol comes in a new layout.
Arrow/CrossThe classic arrow/cross symbol is still available in straight or diagonal format:
© 2015 Indect Electronics & Distribution GmbH LESY2.0 - LED Symbol - page 1Last update on: 2015-06-17
LESY2.0 - LED SymbolINDECT Data Sheet
Arrow/ArrowThe arrow/arrow symbol is available in straight or diagonal format and comes with red/green LEDs that change their colour to green when there are free spaces in the driving direction and to red it there are none:
Special Symbols
INDECT’s special LED symbols—wheelchair, woman and parent-with-pram—have also been adapted to our new LED symbol standard. What is also new is that the integrated arrow can point in any direction (set by software), which allows for easy changes in the location of special bays.
Advantages
• Control of up to 4 LED symbols per Distribution Module (DIMO2.0)• Each LESY2.0 is equipped with a photosensor for automatic brightness control• LED-brightness adjustable for optimal visibility via INDECT Car Park Administration
Software IVIS, or manually on the LED Symbol PCB1
• Combinable with LED Digits (LEDI2.0)• Remote updateable firmware for future updates• Can be supplied with 24 V DC without being connected to the INDECT bus; brightness
adjustment can then be carried out via a potentiometer on the backside of the LESY2.0
1 Depending on connection type.

LEDI2.0 - LED Digit 2.0
LEDI2.0 - LED Digit 2.0
Description
INDECT’s LED Digits 2.0 are used for informing drivers of space availability. They consist of a 7-segment LED print which can be put together with other 7-segment LED prints to form a unit of up to 5 digits.
The first LEDI2.0 in the unit of digits is connected to and controlled by a Master Module (MAMO2.0) or a LED symbol (LESY2.0).
LED Digits can be installed in INDECT signs or 3rd party signs.
LEDI2.0 are available in 3 sizes: 130 mm, 190 mm and 266 mm digit height (see below). 130 mm LEDI2.0 are mostly used indoors, while the 190 and 266 mm ones are used outdoors or for precinct parking guidance.
LEDI2.0 are equipped with SMD LED on a black PCB. Together with INDECT’s new LED symbols (LESY2.0) and IP65 sign racks they make the perfect choice for flexible, durable and high-quality signage.
Standard Size LEDI2.0: 130 mm digit height
Standard LEDI2.0The standard and most often used LEDI2.0 consists of a green digit that can be combined with a red cross to be shown when no more spaces are available in the respective section of the car park.
Coloured LEDI2.0Coloured LEDI2.0 are used to match the colour of special LESY2.0 symbols (wheelchair, parents-with-prams, woman) or if the customer simply requires a LED colour other than green. Also these digits can come with an integrated red cross.
Bicolour LEDI2.0LEDI2.0 are also available in many colours (green, blue, white, amber) with a second, red layer of LEDs that can show a red "0" or "FULL" (4 digits required) when no more spaces are free.

ICOM Database
ICOM Database
Description
This document describes INDECT’s ICOM database functionality and data migration options and shall help you to understand its advantages and opportunities.
Database Architecture
INDECT’s ICOM database is SQLite-based. Our system differentiates between the configuration database and the statistics database.
The configuration database ...... contains
• the complete site structure • the assignment of all modules (sensors, signs, other devices)• any configured settings, such as alarms, reservations, scheduled events etc.
The configuration database’s filename is nodes.db. This file can be found in the ICOM root. While the atserver Windows service is running to safeguard ICOM and IVIS operation, a file called nodes.db-journal is created, acting as a temporary database buffer to protect the original configuration database from damage cause by ICOM PC outages (caused by power failure, for example). Despite this protection, the database might become harmed when unwanted PC shutdowns happen too frequently. INDECT therefore recommends to connect the PC to a reliable UPS.
The statistics database ...... contains all recorded parking events, consisting of
• values and • durations
... with which reports can be made.
Statistical data are captured and stored in data records.
When a data record exceeds a predefined size limit (which can be changed), old data is chopped off the active database, zipped and automatically swapped out to a swapout folder. The current swapout strategy is 1 GB maximum data record size.
Old data records that had been swapped out can also be swapped back in (in IVIS) to generate reports on dates that are no longer part of the active database. To keep the active database small and fast, it is recommendable to swap out old data records once they are no longer needed in the active database after these reports had been generated.
Swapped out data records can also be taken from the ICOM root folder and backed up somewhere else. The swapout folder is called /swapout in can be found in the ICOM root.
What Statistical Data Is Captured
INDECT records any parking events linked to a sensor, logging any status change. In addition, the durations are captured. A car must have stayed for at least 5 minutes (default value, can be modified) to be recorded in the database.
Also inputs from system-integrated vehicle-counting devices, such as loops or barriers, or inputs from the CMPS are recorded.
ICOM DatabaseINDECT Data Sheet
ICOM Database - page 2 © 2013 Indect Electronics & Distribution GmbHLast update on: 2013-05-13
Report Formats
In IVIS, the following formats can be generated:
1. PDF – tables and graphs according to the defined report contents. Please note: not all report types can be generated as a graph and a table.
2. CSV – data is extracted in Comma Separated Values, which can be imported, opened and edited in many software applications, such as MicrosoftTM Excel.
3. Copy/Paste (Export) – report data can also be displayed in IVIS in a table for a quick glance. Data can be copied and pasted to other applications.
4. Another option is the sensor history report, which is not part of the IVIS statistics module, but can be found in Module > Action after having selected one or several sensors. This report lists all status changes of a sensor in the selected time period.
5. The sensor occupation intensity give a "thermal" overview of the selected level drawing about how long all sensor-equipped spaces were occupied within the selected period of time. Green indicates that a space was not occupied at all, dark red indicates that it had been occupied all the time. Steps in-between range from green over yellow over orange to red. The colour code can be seen in the IVIS Help.
6. Long-term parkers exceeding a definable period of time can be listed, in addition to the alarms that are generated as soon as a car overstays the preset period of time.
Report Generation and Automatic Reports
Reports can be defined in the report tool in IVIS.
• In order to make generation easier, defined reports can be saved. If they are to be generated at a later point of time, they can be opened, modified (for example, date, time, sections etc.) and generated.
• Defined reports can also be generated automatically – to this end, the optional software module Automatic Reports is required. A defined and saved report is added in the Schedule in IVIS, and generated and saved automatically in a folder on the ICOM PC (called \report_data) in the ICOM root.
• Automatic reports can also be automatically sent via email to defined email addresses.
Quickreports
Quickreports operate like automatic reports: predefined reports are automatically generated. In contrast to automatic reports, quickreports can be opened directly in IVIS, where they are listed. For each quickreport it can be specified how many of them shall be kept. Older quickreports are automatically deleted.
Examples:
• current day report (generated every hour with the data of the current day)• previous day• previous week• previous month
Quickreports are saved in the folder \quick_report in the ICOM root.
They can be generated in PDF (table or graph).
Quickreports can also be accessed via the Dashboard (optional software module for overview of all registered sites via the Internet).

ICOM Database
Web Services
Current occupancy data can be retrieved via the optional software module Web Interface.
This is done via a http GET request. Data of any section (car park, level, zone etc.) can be retrieved from the site in real time.
This data is delivered in JSON format, and can be processed in many programming or script languages, and, for example, be displayed on a website.
ODCB
It is possible to access statistical data via ODBC (Open Database Connectivity), though at present only data in the datavalues can be accessed.
ODCB has the advantage that all data records are reached directly (as raw data), which allows users to created their own reports directly with their own tools.
In case this feature is to be implemented completely, allowing access to all statistical data via ODCB, INDECT will have to update the respective drivers and registry.
If you require this feature, please contact INDECT for further details.

Alarms and Messages
INDECT Quick Guide
Alarms and MessagesThis document shall give a concise overview of the possible alarms and messages in IVIS and their handling.
Alarm TypesThere are 5 alarm / message types:
Alarm on Entry/Exit
Gives an alarm if a car enters or leaves a space to which to an alarm on entry/exit had been set. If a note had been added to the alarm on entry/exit, this note can be opened in the alarm list, too (by clicking on [more].Default alarm label: alarm_on_entry and alarm_on_exitSample:
Overstayer Alarm
Gives an alarm if a car stays longer than permitted on a space with a configured overstayer alarm (also referred to as "longterm parker"). Overstayer settings can be made for the whole site (global setting) and/or for individual spaces. The individual setting overrules the global one.Default alarm label: longtermSample:
Communication Error
Gives an alarm if • A device could not be reached within a communication cycle (all
COMOs and their connected modules are polled in cycles). Typical: broken sensor or other device.
• A whole Comport cannot be reached (COMO has lost power, is broken, POSU has lost power etc.)
Default alarm label: com_errorSample:

Alarm ListThe alarm list in IVIS is shown after clicking on the alarm list button
.The following information is given per alarm:
Alarm HandlingAny alarm is shown in the alarm list in IVIS (Internet browser-based administration software). As soon as an alarm is triggered, the alarm button starts to blink.By opening the alarm list (by clicking on the alarm button) all pending alarms are listed.A pending alarm is an alarm that1. Has not been acknowledged yet; or2. has been acknowledged but due to its type remains in the alarm
list until the alarm reason becomes void.If speakers are connected to the operating PC, also alarm jingles can be played. Such audio alarm is then acknowledged by clicking on
(the actual alarm acknowledging, as described below, is still to be done).

INDECT Quick Guide
Alarm Settings, Default SettingsEach of the five alarm types can be individually configured by INDECT. Configuration is done in accordance with the customer, if required differently to the default settings. If you require any change in your current alarm management after reading this document, please contact INDECT with a list of the alarm type and how you want it to be handled. The following settings can be made:1. Alarm acknowledging:
• Not acknowledgeable: pending alarm is shown in the list and disappears from the list as soon as the alarm source has been fixed or become void. No acknowledging required.
• Inactive by Acknowledge: pending alarm is shown in list, alarm message disappears after acknowlegdement (though the alarm source may still be valid). Default setting for alarm on entry/exit.
• Acknowledge by inactive: pending alarm is shown in list, stays in list after acknowledgement, disappears after the alarm source has been fixed or become void (e.g. overstayer has left, device has been replaced, communication issue has been fixed). Default setting for the other 4 alarm types.
• Acknowledge active or iactive: pending alarm is shown in list, stays after having been acknowledged, even if the source has been fixed or become void. The alarm must be acknowledged.
• Acknowledge active and inactive: pending alarm is shown in list, must be acknowledged, but stays in list until alarm source has been fixed or become void. Requires second acknowledgement after the alarm source has been fixed or become void. After the second acknowledgement the alarm disappears from the list.
2. Alarm color:• For each alarm type, font colour and highlighting color can be
freely set (by INDECT).3. Alarm labels (see above):
• Also the alarm labels (such as com_error or alarm_on_exit etc. - see above) can be changed according to the customer’s requirements.
4. Alarm jingle• If speakers are connected and if audio alarms are required, a
different jingle for each alarm type can be uploaded. Upon request, the customer can provide his own alarm jingles (WAV files required).
3
Alarms and Messages
INDECT Quick Guide
Alarm AcknowledgementAlarms can be acknowledged by anybody operating the system. After acknowledging an alarm, the currently logged-in user is shown in the column Accept/Delete.If a guest (no user logs in) acknowledges an alarm, the field Accept/Delete in the column stays empty.
Further InformationIf a system shows many communication errors or connection error alarms the settings are probably too sensitive, because even a device failing to respond in time for a short period, coming back online shortly afterwards, causes an alarm, although the system performance does not suffer from that. Please contact INDECT if you think that your system is too sensitive, so we can fine-tune alarming.

The playback allows travelling back in time to see the car park occupancy situation at that time.

INDECT Data Sheet
© 2013 Indect Electronics & Distribution GmbH Interface to SKIDATA Hostcomm - page 1Last update on: 2013-05-13
Interface to SKIDATA Hostcomm
Interface to SKIDATA Hostcomm
Description
INDECT provides the optional feature Interface to SKIDATA Hostcomm to integrate counting information from the SKIDATA system. INDECT can receive counting data from the SKIDATA system and also send the command "FULL" (if a level or car park etc. is fully occupied) to improve the performance of a car park equipped with both systems.
The SD-Interface can be used for three purposes:
1. Precounting of vehicles entering a section with bay monitoring via a barrier: the responsible section sign counts down immediately when a car enters the section and does not wait until the car has parked on a free bay. This avoids that cars entering a section do not find a free bay—because the responsible signage reacts immediately when a car enters the section.
Each car that enters receives a time stamp (which is predefinable and has to match the facility size) and is counted as an entering vehicle. When the car is parked underneath a sensor the time stamp is deleted and the car is deleted from the entering cars, the signs shows the same counting value as before. When the time stamp expires, and the car has not parked underneath a sensor, the time stamp is deleted as well, since the car does not occupy a bay. The responsible signage counts one up. Thus the signs always show the real occupancy of their section, since the INDECT system always knows how many cars have entered and how many have actually parked.
When a car leaves its bay, the signs receive this information immediately as well from the INDECT system, counting 1 free bay up at once.
With this feature, it is always clear how many cars are on their way to a free bay, how many cars are parked, and how many cars have left their bay and head towards the exit.
2. Close barriers signal to SKIDATA: when a level, or car park, is full, INDECT gives this information to the SKIDATA system, which closes the barriers until a bay of the sensor-monitored section to be counted gets free.
3. Counting the entries and exits of sections without bay monitoring which have a barrier.
Function
The INDECT-SKIDATA Interface will require SKIDATA Hostcomm Standard 2.
In a nutshell, the SKIDATA system configuration comprises the following elements which are necessary to configure the interface:
• Facility ID• IP• Car Park IDs (0, 1, 2 etc.)• Counting Categories (Short-term, contract parker etc.)• Device IDs (e.g. barrier 42, 43, 44 for entry; barrier 81, 82, 83 for exit)
Due to the Counting Categories, the SD system knows which tickets to issue and due to the Car Park IDs and Device IDs the system knows where the cars enter or exit.
These data are transmitted to INDECT via the Hostcomm protocol.

During the INDECT configuration, so-called virtual SDIPT-Modules (SKIDATA INPUT) are installed and configured. In their function, they correspond to INDECT‘s Multifunction Module, providing + for cars entering and - for cars leaving a certain section.
So when a car enters a level and receives a ticket from SKIDATA, the SD system knows that, for example, a short-term parker enters Car Park 2. This information is given to INDECT, resulting in a + count (= car in) for Car Park 2.
Advantages
• Process counting information without additional hardware required• Close/open barriers when the car park is full/1 space becomes free• Precounting of sensor-monitored zones• Zone counting of zones without sensors
