India, Russia hold talks toboost space cooperation

NEW DELHI, July 12:

India and Russia held high-level talks to elevate bilateral coop-eration to the next level in the fieldof space, including assistance inIndia's maiden human space flightmission 'Gaganyaan', according toMinistry of External Affairs.

National Security Advisor AjitDoval and Dmitry Rogozin,Director General of Russia's spaceagency ROSCOSMOS, led thetwo sides in the meeting heldThursday.

"There have been frequent con-tacts between the two space agen-cies to finalise the details of theGaganyaan Mission, which willcarry Indian astronaut to space in

2022, to coincide with India's 75thanniversary of Independence," anMEA statement said Friday.

Russia has promised all assis-tance for India's Human SpaceFlight Mission and details regard-ing cooperation for the GaganyaanMission were discussed, the state-ment said, adding it also offeredsupport to India in participating inthe International Space Station.

Both sides agreed to take astrategic approach to elevate bilat-eral cooperation to the next levelkeeping in mind the special andprivileged partnership and India'spriorities such as Make in Indiaprogramme, the MEA said.

Senior representatives ofROSCOSMOS, GLAVCOSMOS,Energia and Energomash werepresent from the Russian side.From the Indian side, ISROChairman and Department ofSpace Secretary K Sivan and theDirector of the Human SpaceFlight Programme also attendedthe meeting.

Cooperation in futuristic tech-nologies including new space sys-tems, rocket engines, propellantsand propulsion systems, spacecraftand launch vehicle technologywere also discussed.

"The Russian side stated thatthey would like to see India partic-ipate in the International SpaceStation, and offered its full supportfor this purpose," the statementsaid.

Space has emerged as a keyarea of cooperation between Indiaand Russia in the high technologysector. India shares a robust coop-eration with Russia in strategicareas of defence, nuclear andspace. (PTI)

UPSC civil services prelimsexam results declared

NEW DELHI, July 12:

The Union Public ServiceCommission (UPSC) todaydeclared the results of the civilservices preliminary examina-tion, a Government order said.

The results of the examina-tion held on June 2 can be seenon UPSC web site--www.upsc.gov.in.

"The candidature of thesecandidates is provisional. Inaccordance with the Rules ofthe Examination, all these can-didates have to apply again inthe detailed application Form-I(DAF-I) for the Civil Services(Main) Examination, 2019,which will be available on the

web sitehttps://upsconline.nic.in duringthe period from August 01, 2019(Thursday) to August 16, 2019(Friday) till 6:00 P.M," the gov-ernment said in a statement.

It said the e-admit cardalong with the time table of themain examination will beuploaded on the Commission'sWebsite for the eligible candi-dates around 3-4 weeks beforethe commencement of theexamination.

"Changes, if any, in thepostal address or e-mail addressor mobile number after submis-sion of the DAF-I may be com-municated to the Commission atonce," it said.

The candidates are alsoinformed that marks, cut offmarks and answer keys ofscreening test held through thecivil services preliminaryexamination will be uploadedon the website only after theentire process examination isover i.e. after the declaration offinal result of civil servicesexamination, the statementsaid.

The civil services exam isconducted annually in threephases -- prelims, mains andinterview -- to select officers forIndian Administrative Service(IAS), Indian Foreign Service(IFS), Indian Police Service(IPS), among others. (PTI)

2 thieves arrested withstolen mobile phonesExcelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, July 12: Channi

Himmat Police arrested twothieves and recovered fivestolen mobile phones from theirpossession.

As per police sources, yes-terday a complaint was lodgedby Onkar Sharma, son ofRoshan Chand of Nagrota, atpresent Deeli with ChanniHimmat Police Station statingthat during the intervening nightof July 10 and 11, five mobilephones belonging to him andhis associates were stolen.

Acting over the complaint, acase under FIR Number 106/19under section 379 RPC was regis-tered at Police Station ChanniHimmat and investigation started.

During the course of investi-gation, a team from ChanniHimmat Police Station roundedup several suspects and finallyarrested two thieves, who wereidentified as Ratish Singh, sonof Suresh Singh of Talab TilloJammu and Bushan Kumar, sonof Sudershan Kumar ofPurmandal District Samba.

On their disclosure, all fivestolen mobiles were recovered.

Further investigation intothe case is going on.

19 bovines rescued,3 smugglers arrested

cued 19 bovine animals andarrested three smugglers.

As per police sources, onspecific information, a teamfrom Reasi Police Station led bySHO Inspector AshwaniSharma and assisted by SI RaviKumar and SI PurshotamSharma laid a naka and inter-cepted a truck bearing registra-tion number JK02AT-7334.

During checking, police teamrescued 12 bovine animals fromthe truck and arrested the driver,who has been identified as Majid,son of Hanief, a resident ofMaralian Miran Sahib Jammu.

A case under FIR Number140/19 under section 188 and429 RPC and 3 PCA Act wasregistered at Police StationReasi and investigation started.

Meanwhile, a team fromPolice Post Tulli laid a naka andapprehended two persons, whowere smuggling 7 cattle on foot.

The arrested persons havebeen identified as Bagh Hussain,son of Hakim Din andMohammad Sadiq, both residentsof Phalni Budhal District Rajouri.

A case under FIR Number32/19 under section 188 RPChas been registered at PoliceStation Chassana and investiga-tion started.

body of an unidentified man ofage about 25-30 years was

According to a police offi-cial, some locals today at about8:45 spotted the dead body of anunknown man near RailwayTrack at Dingali in Sidhra area.He said on their information apolice team reached the spot andshifted the body to mortuaryroom of Government MedicalCollege and Hospital, Jammu foridentification/postmortem.

"In this connection, inquestproceedings under Section 174CrPC have been initiated bySidhra police," the officialadded.
