DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU SATURDAY, JULY 13, 2019 (PAGE 15) India, Russia hold talks to boost space cooperation NEW DELHI, July 12: India and Russia held high- level talks to elevate bilateral coop- eration to the next level in the field of space, including assistance in India's maiden human space flight mission 'Gaganyaan', according to Ministry of External Affairs. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Russia's space agency ROSCOSMOS, led the two sides in the meeting held Thursday. "There have been frequent con- tacts between the two space agen- cies to finalise the details of the Gaganyaan Mission, which will carry Indian astronaut to space in 2022, to coincide with India's 75th anniversary of Independence," an MEA statement said Friday. Russia has promised all assis- tance for India's Human Space Flight Mission and details regard- ing cooperation for the Gaganyaan Mission were discussed, the state- ment said, adding it also offered support to India in participating in the International Space Station. Both sides agreed to take a strategic approach to elevate bilat- eral cooperation to the next level keeping in mind the special and privileged partnership and India's priorities such as Make in India programme, the MEA said. Senior representatives of ROSCOSMOS, GLAVCOSMOS, Energia and Energomash were present from the Russian side. From the Indian side, ISRO Chairman and Department of Space Secretary K Sivan and the Director of the Human Space Flight Programme also attended the meeting. Cooperation in futuristic tech- nologies including new space sys- tems, rocket engines, propellants and propulsion systems, spacecraft and launch vehicle technology were also discussed. "The Russian side stated that they would like to see India partic- ipate in the International Space Station, and offered its full support for this purpose," the statement said. Space has emerged as a key area of cooperation between India and Russia in the high technology sector. India shares a robust coop- eration with Russia in strategic areas of defence, nuclear and space. (PTI) UPSC civil services prelims exam results declared NEW DELHI, July 12: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today declared the results of the civil services preliminary examina- tion, a Government order said. The results of the examina- tion held on June 2 can be seen on UPSC web site-- www.upsc.gov.in. "The candidature of these candidates is provisional. In accordance with the Rules of the Examination, all these can- didates have to apply again in the detailed application Form-I (DAF-I) for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019, which will be available on the web site https://upsconline.nic.in during the period from August 01, 2019 (Thursday) to August 16, 2019 (Friday) till 6:00 P.M," the gov- ernment said in a statement. It said the e-admit card along with the time table of the main examination will be uploaded on the Commission's Website for the eligible candi- dates around 3-4 weeks before the commencement of the examination. "Changes, if any, in the postal address or e-mail address or mobile number after submis- sion of the DAF-I may be com- municated to the Commission at once," it said. The candidates are also informed that marks, cut off marks and answer keys of screening test held through the civil services preliminary examination will be uploaded on the website only after the entire process examination is over i.e. after the declaration of final result of civil services examination, the statement said. The civil services exam is conducted annually in three phases -- prelims, mains and interview -- to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), among others. (PTI) 2 thieves arrested with stolen mobile phones Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, July 12: Channi Himmat Police arrested two thieves and recovered five stolen mobile phones from their possession. As per police sources, yes- terday a complaint was lodged by Onkar Sharma, son of Roshan Chand of Nagrota, at present Deeli with Channi Himmat Police Station stating that during the intervening night of July 10 and 11, five mobile phones belonging to him and his associates were stolen. Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 106/19 under section 379 RPC was regis- tered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation started. During the course of investi- gation, a team from Channi Himmat Police Station rounded up several suspects and finally arrested two thieves, who were identified as Ratish Singh, son of Suresh Singh of Talab Tillo Jammu and Bushan Kumar, son of Sudershan Kumar of Purmandal District Samba. On their disclosure, all five stolen mobiles were recovered. Further investigation into the case is going on. 19 bovines rescued, 3 smugglers arrested Excelsior Correspondent REASI, July 12: Police res- cued 19 bovine animals and arrested three smugglers. As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Reasi Police Station led by SHO Inspector Ashwani Sharma and assisted by SI Ravi Kumar and SI Purshotam Sharma laid a naka and inter- cepted a truck bearing registra- tion number JK02AT-7334. During checking, police team rescued 12 bovine animals from the truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Majid, son of Hanief, a resident of Maralian Miran Sahib Jammu. A case under FIR Number 140/19 under section 188 and 429 RPC and 3 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation started. Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Tulli laid a naka and apprehended two persons, who were smuggling 7 cattle on foot. The arrested persons have been identified as Bagh Hussain, son of Hakim Din and Mohammad Sadiq, both residents of Phalni Budhal District Rajouri. A case under FIR Number 32/19 under section 188 RPC has been registered at Police Station Chassana and investiga- tion started. According to a police offi- cial, some locals today at about 8:45 spotted the dead body of an unknown man near Railway Track at Dingali in Sidhra area. He said on their information a police team reached the spot and shifted the body to mortuary room of Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for identification/postmortem. "In this connection, inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC have been initiated by Sidhra police," the official added.

UPSC civil services prelimsexam results declared

NEW DELHI, July 12:

The Union Public ServiceCommission (UPSC) todaydeclared the results of the civilservices preliminary examina-tion, a Government order said.

The results of the examina-tion held on June 2 can be seenon UPSC web site--www.upsc.gov.in.

"The candidature of thesecandidates is provisional. Inaccordance with the Rules ofthe Examination, all these can-didates have to apply again inthe detailed application Form-I(DAF-I) for the Civil Services(Main) Examination, 2019,which will be available on the

web sitehttps://upsconline.nic.in duringthe period from August 01, 2019(Thursday) to August 16, 2019(Friday) till 6:00 P.M," the gov-ernment said in a statement.

2 thieves arrested withstolen mobile phonesExcelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, July 12: Channi

Himmat Police arrested twothieves and recovered fivestolen mobile phones from theirpossession.

As per police sources, yes-terday a complaint was lodgedby Onkar Sharma, son ofRoshan Chand of Nagrota, atpresent Deeli with ChanniHimmat Police Station statingthat during the intervening nightof July 10 and 11, five mobilephones belonging to him andhis associates were stolen.

19 bovines rescued,3 smugglers arrested
