How Does It Work?

Click on the link in the Dropbox email. Select “create an account” on the top right corner of the page. Enter your name, password and email address you would like to use. (It does NOT have to

be the same email listed for your NYCDA registration.) 2. How do I download & install Dropbox? (Not already a Dropbox user)

Make sure you install the Dropbox desktop application. It creates a new folder on your computer called Dropbox. Your Dropbox folder works just like any other folder on your hard drive, except everything in your Dropbox folder automatically syncs to the web and to any other computer with Dropbox installed.

3. How do I upload music?

It's easy to add files to Dropbox! Move your music files simply by dragging and dropping them into your Dropbox folder. That's it! The files in your Dropbox folder will automatically be synced online and to your studio’s NYCDA Dropbox folder. Or, you can even use the “Save As..” menu option in most applications to save files directly to your Dropbox folder.

Keep your new Dropbox folder open. You should see your personal studio folder which is titled with the convention city, your studio name and studio code.

[i.e. New York City – A – Dance Studio]

In another window, find and open all of your competition music files on your computer. You will need to make sure that you files are formatted correctly- it’s very easy, as long as it plays in iTunes or QuickTime, it will be play on our system! Acceptable Formats include WAVE, AIFF, MP3, etc.

Drag and drop each file into your studio’s Dropbox folder. This will automatically save these files to the web as well as your computer.

IMPORTANT! RENAME each file with the entry number, title and studio code in the following format. (Note that all entry numbers must contain three digits.)

001 – New York, New York – A.mp3 014 – Dancin’ Machine – D.m4a 145 – Over the Rainbow – J.WAVE

DO NOT take off the file name extentions (i.e. .mp3, .m4a, etc)

Once these files are dropped in the studio folder and labeled correctly, you are DONE! The files will automatically be linked to the web and to the NYCDA Dropbox account.

Music MUST be uploaded by 12 pm on the Wednesday PRIOR

to your Convention.

Please still be prepared with Backups for your music onsite at the Convention!

***If this system is not for you, please bring one USB with ALL competition music on it. All entries should be properly labeled PRIOR to the weekend in the format outlined above.

Please list the entry title(s) and a short description of the prop(s) that will be used:

Our goal is to always have performances run as smoothly and professionally as possible. Please be advised of the following guidelines regarding props: Studios are responsible for the transportation storage, setup and removal of all sets

and props. It is the studio’s responsibility to provide an adequate crew for the prop.

Studios are responsible for the cleaning of the stage following a number that creates “stage litter.”

Some venues have specific times when props can be loaded in. Please contact Travis at the NYCDA office for more information.

NYCDA cannot be held responsible if a venue does not allow a prop in because of ei-ther union rules or safety concerns.

Some venues require a union crew to load/unload trucks. If your prop cannot be carried into the venue by one person, please contact Travis at the NYCDA office. It may be possible to coordinate the unloading of your truck with the unloading of our truck.

Set piece and props requiring more than 30 seconds to setup/strike may result in a 5 point deduction from your overall score. If you feel you may need additional time, please make that note in the section above as we may be able to schedule the piece around a break.
