General Information

● Minimum Educational QualificationFor Technician Grade-III Electrical/Technician Grade-III Electrical TRD :Matriculation plus course completed Act Apprenticeship/ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT in thetrade of Electrician.

● AgeA candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years.(The upper age limit is relaxable in respect of some reserved categories).

● Recruitment ProcessThe candidates who have elected one of the regional language as medium of examination will besupplied question booklet in English, Hindi, Urdu & regional language of concerned RRB. Thosewho have not elected regional languages as medium of examination will be supplied questionbooklet in English, Hindi and Urdu only.

Selection is made strictly as per merit, on the basis of Written Examination. First a writtenexamination is conducted.

The standard of questions for the written exam will be generally in conformity with the educationalstandards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts. The questions will beof objective type with multiple choice and are likely to include questions pertaining to generalawareness, arithmetic, general intelligence and reasoning, general science and relevant technicalability. The question paper will be in English, Hindi, Urdu and local languages. The duration of the

examination will be 1 12 hours with 100 to 120 questions.

There shall be negative marking in written examination and marks shall be deducted for eachwrong answer@1/3 of the marks allotted for each question.

Candidates who have opted for Technician, will be shortlisted as per their performance in theWritten Examination and called for Aptitude Test. Such shortlisted candidates should produce thevision certificate as per the prescribed format during Aptitude Test, failing which they will not bepermitted for Aptitude Test.

Based on the performance of candidates in the written examinations (For Technician) candidatesequal to the number of vacancies are called for document verification in the main list. In addition30% extra candidates are also called as standby candidates and they are considered forempanelment only if there is shortfall in empanelment from the main list. During documentverification, candidates will have to produce their original certificates. No additional time will begiven and the candidature of the candidates not producing their original certificates on the date ofverification is liable to be forfeited.

Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to beconducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and communitycertificates and verification of antecedents/character of the candidates.

● Medical Fitness TestCandidates recommended for appointment will have to pass requisite medical fitness test(s)conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carryout the duties connected with the post. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria ofmedical fitness of railway staff. The medical requirements against the medical standards for B-1category are outlined below :

B-1 : Physically fit in all respects. Visual Standards Distance Vision : 6/9, 6/12 with or withoutglasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D). Near Vision : Sn : 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasseswhen reading or close work is required and must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision,Field of Vision and Night Vision.

Note :(i) Before indicating options for categories in the boxes against Item No. 1 of the Application

Form, the applicants must ensure that he/she fulfills the prescribed medical standards for thatcategory/post.

(ii) Candidates qualifying in examination(s) for these posts but failing in prescribed medicalexamination(s) will not under any circumstance be considered for any alternativeappointment.

(iii) Candidates who do not fulfil the prescribed medical standards need not apply.

(iv) The above medical standard (Criteria) are indicative and not exhaustive and apply to candi-dates in general.

(v) For Ex-Servicemen different standards apply.

RRB has not appointed any agent(s) or coachingcenter(s) for action on its behalf. Candidates are warned against anysuch claims being made by persons/agencies. Candidates are selectedpurely as per merit. Please beware of unscrupulous elements and do notfall in their trap. Candidates attempting to influence RRB directly orindirectly, shall be disqualified and legal action can be initiated againstthem.
